July 21st is going to be Tennessee's Foundation Weekend. It is going to be our version of Friday Night Lights, Dawg Weekend ect.
Got this from Hubbs.
Wow. That's exciting. Sounds like we'll need to limit our expectations of him as a pure receiver this fall. But it will be exciting to see how they plug him into the offense. I'm sure he'll be in there from day 1, at this rate...
Not related to the video at all, but I did that one day in '97 just to see what being on the field was like. Security wasn't as sophisticated back then, but I still made pretty good time sprinting from the guards. Nowadays that would prob get you 11/29 though.
I agree. I think the staff will find different ways to get the ball in his hands like last year with CP until he masters the play book. Obviously, we are young and inexperienced but I'm excited to see what North, Croom, Pig, etc. can do this year. I think they may surprise if they stay healthy, jmo.
I'm right there with you. We have weapons on offense and against the weaker teams on our schedule, we should be able to put up more points than people might otherwise expect (given what we lost this offseason).
At this point, though, I'm not confident how well we will be able to move the ball against elite defenses, like Florida and Alabama. I worry that those might be painful to watch.
But we'll see. As long as we reach a bowl game, I'm happy with this season.

Something else that becomes more clear every week is that this group of players genuinely likes Jones and his staff, and some already say they love them. These players feel respected more than they have in the past, and thats more on a personal level than a football level.

To add, it's not like this year's team has no experienced talent (i.e. OL, Neal/Lane, McCullers/Couch, Johnson/Maggitt, Randolph/McNeil). We have as good, or better, players than at least 6 or 7 teams on our schedule (Austin Peay, Western Kentucky, South Alabama, Missouri, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Kentucky). My biggest concern is at QB and WR where we have no real experience and a lot of question marks. If we have an inept offense, we will really struggle. Hopefully the O-Line will be dominant and will make life much easier on our starting QB (whoever that may be).
I'm with you, Vol4us. That's why I think we will have a better season this year (i.e., actually make a bowl game) with arguably less talent.
I'm more than ready to move past these past few years of underachieving. These last five years have been the worst in Tennessee history (at least for some time), but we can take at least some encouragement from the differences between us and other programs. Brutal for a Tennessee fan means finishing outside the top 10-12 in recruiting, losing 6-7 games a year, missing bowl games, and only putting 2-3 guys per year (on average) into the NFL. Brutal for most other schools means finishing nowhere near the top 25 in recruiting, losing 9-11 games a year, and putting nobody in the NFL.
