Hate to break it to you, but we are fans not on the team. I expect our team to work at a championship level, but am not going to be ignorant to our obvious personnel flaws.

Talent wise, no, we are not championship calibur. However, we cant use this as an excuse. We had more talent than both Vandy and Missouri last year and had equal talent to Miss St. There is enough talent on this team to win 8 games imo. Just hasnt been even close to being developed.

Just quoting this one to say that you're the man Ron. Lol We have completely the same outlook on this team and our program.

8 wins is easily do-able this year. And I'm not budging my expectations. I'll still be disappointed bc were not in the SECCG.

:hi:

Saw some tweets from bcartervol that used to post in here. If any of you have seen him on twitter am I the only one who thinks he's a bit creepy with how much he tweets recruits, players, and coaches? I saw one where he was asking a former player (Ainge i think) about partying together the Fri night before O&W game. Maybe Its just me but seems like he goes a bit too far.

The 'no talent' argument is due to low production (in spite of stars), but low production is largely due to poor coaching. There are many teams deemed to be talented based on production, who have lower star levels...again the result of coaching. This ain't complicated y'all. For the last four years, we have been coached by two coaches that 'do less with more' than virtually anyone. We are now coached by a guy who does more with less.

How important is coaching? IIR, Erik Ainge was very good his freshman year, but actually declined considerably his sophomore year. Cut came back his Junior year, and he looked like a completely different player for both junior and senior year. Jonathon Crompton seemed completely incompetent through his junior season, but suddenly was quite effective his senior year. In both of those cases there were major changes in QB coaching between the bad years and good years. Were you to evaluate the talent of Ainge or Crompton during their poorly coached years, neither would have seen the NFL. Coaching matters. Our perceived lack of talent lay at the feet of our former coaches, to a great degree.

Will we win a championship next year? Of course not. We'll be respectable though, and we'll be in the hunt for the east within three. And most surprisingly, we will spontaneously become more talented...

No he goes way over the line. He talked about taking these kids on his boat IIRC.

He and ainge are actually good friends and he comes by the dealership pretty often. He plugs rice gmc on the radio a good bit and drives one of our vehicles.

Trust me, lowered expectations of our fanbase has driven me crazy for the last three years.

Absolutely Chavis! I expect The Tennessee Volunteers to win EVERY game. If the players Give Their All For Tennessee during the game and still lose, I can deal with it. I get royally pissed when the players and/or coaches quit. I cannot fathom how little self-pride you must have to just mail it in.
I do not understand the concept of taking plays off either. Football is a team sport. If you half-arse plays, then you are letting your teammates down.

Go Big Damn Orange! I have spoken. Let it be written. Let it be done. :)

I think we see a much different team attitude this fall. I think if a player takes a play off, these coaches will bench that player. Regardless.

So those posters that defended and did not understand that Dools was an incompetent head coach until he nearly finished three seasons are also now saying Dools was incompetent. Those same posters are now saying Jones "gets it" and is turning everything around. Based on those same posters' track records with analyzing coaches I guess they need to get the moving vans ready. LOL.

As I have said numerous times as well as Ron and few others, 8 wins is an expectation with this roster. That is not unreasonable at all for a competent coaching staff. It is a good mid-level SEC roster. The D has to get better with going back to the 4-3 and with better fundamentals. The O has good things going for it with an upper class manned line and RB's. Just not making stupid mistakes and playing some D will get you two more wins per year. But we haven't seen it happen yet. Until it does it is all speculation. But it is what we should expect.

Our D-Line is terrible. We have two SEC linebackers. Corners aren't any good. Safeties are okay.

WR's are bad right now. QB, who knows?? Offensive line is GREAT. RB's are very, very average. Two good backs, then nothing besides that.

Have you seen more than practice clips and scrub time? If not, then you have no idea what our linebackers, corners, or wide receivers can do.

I liked how bcarter handled himself after the Gruden stuff. He apologized and took the ribbing from everyone well. I follow him in Twitter, but I don't feel comfortable doing what he does. That's just me though. There are a lot of people old enough to be their parents following and tweeting these kids. The kids love it. Again, not for me.

He seems to sell or lease cars to Ainge and a lot of the UT coaches if that explains the partying with them.

Maybe u can confirm he's just very excited about the Vols. I want to believe he's not a creep

Definitely not a creep lol. The staff loves what we are doing. Never invited some kid I don't know on my boat. I just have become good friends with Ainge, Parker, Fair, Knight, Antone. Just don't post here anymore. I'm not some fan kid or weirdo in any way. Spent the day at the complex today and every coach and player I met and had lunch with thanked me for the stuff we do on twitter. I think if you look at my twitter timeline and shout outs today you will see I am not just some weirdo. Twittercruiting and getting these kids Volnation followers is a big deal to them.

If you don't like it don't do it but to say its creepy or weird is going a bit far. The party with Erik is one we are both excited about. Nothing weird about having friends and tweeting them.

You can "follow" a recruit and help boost his followers without ever saying a word to them. Honestly, I think that is the best thing to do if you want to use twitter to "help" recruit.

Everyone has their opinions. I'll say mine: I agree with you. This seems to be the intent of twitter. Good work. Keep it up.
