The girlfriend is wanting to go on a cruise this summer. She's wanting to go to the Bahamas and stay atleast 5 nights. Anyone have any tips of what to look for when looking for a cruise?

haha..speaking of drinking..whats the deal with underage people? can they drink on cruise ships?

For younger people, I would say go with Carnival. I have no idea re drinking, but I never remember being carded.

As long as you're over 18 you won't have a problem drinking. They are expensive.

Bring your own booze. It might be a little tricky getting it onto the boat but this is what we did.

Took a bunch of small bottles (like the stuff from an airplane) and hide them everywhere.

Then take a big bottle of something cheap and put it right on top. Then, when they scan it, they see the big one, they say "no no" you take it out, they don't rescan it. This works.

Why not just go to the Bahamas and charter a boat for a couple of days while there? I know some people love the cruising, but so much weird stuff seems to be happening on those ships lately.

There are cruise boards out there like this one that will have all the info you need. I'm taking the family on a Disney cruise this fall. Disney is more expensive than others due to the Mickey factor. Carnival, RCI, and Norweigan are the biggest and probably cheapest of the rest.

Disney allows you to bring your own alcohol on board. It just has to fit in a carry-on bag and go through the scanner which is similar to an airport scanner. No liquids like that allowed in your checked luggage that gets deliverd to your stateroom though.

Go online and do some research into the different cruise lines. There are some that run a pretty loose ship and have a lot of crime on board, thefts, sexual assaults etc. Stay away from those lines and you will be ok.
