I'm saying that a specific coach, or a combo of coaches, (mainly Butch, Mahoney, or Mike Baj.) pushed the "plan for future" agenda of playing Thomas last year at all cost. IMO it cost us the FL game, and honestly, I think it eliminated any chance of us beating UGA even with our defense playing great most the game until they ran out of gas from being on the field so much.
I'm not a sunshine pumper. I look at what I see and what I've seen so far is below average OL coaching and some questionable in game offensive strategies. The OL play and the play calling work hand in hand. When Worley has one second to throw the ball you got to figure something out so you can move the ball. You can't keep pushing your agenda at the cost of loses like FL last year. There's no excuse for it.
Also, it wasn't just an OL strategy problem that I had problems with last year. Through the last few pages you can clearly see I'm 110% for starting both Kendrick and Thomas, so I'm not trying to sound like I'm bashing Thomas here. My issue, and the most concerning issue IMO, is the lack of development of our OL all last year. Our OL made the same mistakes every game. Yes, our OL got bullied around, but they also never improved on their technique. We also never tried to truly fix/stop the bleeding during games. The OK game is a prime example of this. OK rushed us on Thomas' side all game, using the same CB blitz. At what point do you realize that just putting Wolf, a freshman I might add, at H-back on the right side isn't going to cut it? In those situations you have to protect your QB at all cost. If you have to play a FB and a TE, which will limit your playbook to 5 plays the rest the game, you do it. Then, instead of using it as a crutch to justify your OL strategy decisions, you go find ways to make those five plays turn into 15 plays during the game. It's possible to do. Go watch Chip Kelly coach.
I'm 100% pro CBJ, but his on the field coaching is questionable. I believe that is a very fair statement to make about CBJ. He's done everything else right. He's put us back into contention, but he's got to prove he can win us games when the offensive game plan fails. Ultimately, loses like FL fall on CBJ's shoulders, especially considering he's an offensive minded coach.
Then I doubt very seriously that your impression of Jones is correct. That appears to have been what he offered Weisman and Kendrick.
Crowder is a 20 something year old guy. He's put a type of dedication into UT football for 5 years and especially the last 3 that few can understand. By all accounts I've seen, he's been a model team player.
To give him a day off to process news this kind of news... is a remarkable indication of caring for players. Jones is sufficiently tough when it matters.
Care to do a positive highlight film too? That would be neat.
All of this "Player skipped practice for being upset" stuff carries the stench of "North has a season ending injury." Small nugget of truth... exploded into something "newsworthy".
IMHO, it is likely that he is upset if he isn't starting. It is possible that Jones allowed him to take a day to rest and put his thoughts together before getting back to competing. I believe it is next to impossible that any of these guys have successfully bullied Jones. Totally contrary to his personality, patterns of action, and belief system.
His job was to pull and block the first guy that crosses his face. He pulled on the play, got wide and split the field.
He gave the ball carrier an obstacle. I guess if he could run a 4.6 forty he could've led Malone down the field. Looks like nit-pickin' to me.
Scratching my head on why the coaches are trying so hard to keep C. Thomas in the starting line-up. They tried him at center during the spring, but by all the reports I've seen, that didn't work out too well so they moved him into B. Kendrick's spot at RT. If what has been posted earlier in this thread is true, the veteran players convinced the staff that Kendrick was the better option. But instead of moving Thomas to a backup roll, they give him the starting job at center, despite his performance there in the spring. Not understanding this at all.
No doubt that one is nit-pickin. Good grief if I wanted to make a point about our OL being an issue it wouldn't be complaining about not getting a block 20yards downfield

Jimmy Hyams "@JimmyHyams: UT senior C Mack Crowder (12 career starts) missed practice Monday, upset he wont start v. Bowling Green. He will return to practice today"
What is everyone's thoughts on this? Senior skipping practice because he is not a starter? Seems odd to me
