As a squad (all playing on the field at exactly the same time), no they are not.

2nd team as individuals, yes and frequently as it should be. Best way to get them game reps and getting ready for bigger games.

May be the only game where you see wholesale squad insertion. It gave our coaches valuable info.

Other teams coaches would have kept their Ist team out there through the 3rd quarter. Run the score up to pad their stats. Needed? No.

Let our coaches coach this team...enjoy college football 2013. It will be over too soon.

42 first half points. 6 possessions, 6 straight touchdowns. Opponent had one chance to score the ENTIRE game and that ended as a missed field goal attempt.

I am quite happy with the 800th football win in UT history. Solidifies our place in the elite team category.

I do not see uf or usc (west or east) on that list :)

I noticed Oregon left their starters in through the end of the third. UT could have scored 60+ if they had done this.

Whenever I hear Inky Johnson give an inspiration, it makes me want to suit up and knock the doodoo out of Brown.

A few very good post on why some posters feel the spead will work without an elite QB in the SEC.

Smith and maggitt might play this week.

Some discussion about Worley and arm strength/timing issues.

That's about it. The other you didn't miss much

Thanks, Bruin. I'd guess someone has already mentioned this but did you guys hear the uga fan that started crying on some radio show about uga and Richt? They just played it on 104.5 in Nashville. Hilarious.

They're already calling for Richts head. I think there's a decent chance of the wheels falling off for uga this next month. If they lose to usce and lsu I think we'll finish them off when they come to Neyland. Uga fan just called in and said bring on Petrino.

Just got done re-watching the game, and I think I'm a little less down on the backup OL than I was. During most of the second half, Tom Smoth was in, and he was not reading his blocks well. A number of times it looked like there were holes that he just missed. Once Summerhill came in, things worked a lot better because he could find the holes that were there all along. Also a few of the blown assignments were from Posey at LG, and he's not even the second team LG. Even if the coaches do hold Jackson out all year, it has already been said by a few sources that Weisman is our 7th OL, and he was held out mainly for precautionary reasons.

Peterman also just didn't run the read option well. Misread things a few times and killed drives.

I rewatched the second team offence again to, and I don't think they were that bad at all. There was a lot of good that I saw. Of course there were blown assignments that can be fixed. They need to work on staying low and staying on there blocks. We are in real trouble if pair has to start next year, he seemed the worst of the group. But I'm feeling much better bout second group after watching it again.

Jimmy Hyams just said he thinks Worley is going to zone read off of a pre-determined run as opposed to actually readng the zone. His reasoning is because Peterman is more athletic as Worley so Peterman would read the zone. Anybody agree with that?

I certainly do not think every time Worley "read the zone" it was his call. Sometimes it was called play action and some Pre determined run.

Peterman wasn't very good at whatever he was doing.

I watched a couple replays and thought he read them. That one he got blown up on I think he read wrong. I definitely agree with you on Peterman. The way Jimmy said it just didn't sit well. I don't know.

I completely agree with that philosophy, but the only line we're dominant on is OL, period. We're nowhere near dominant on the DL because we don't generate a huge push off the edge.

We're good up the middle but until one of our ends turns the light on, we're the defensive equivelant of a one dimensional offense.

Full disclosure here (not directed at you, 8188):

This mantra of "let's only talk about the positives" on here is getting ridiculous. I'm not a negative poster, never have been, never will be, but the second I, or anyone else, bring up anything concerning about the team, the lunatic fringe chime in and dog pile on the validity of the issue being discussed.

I agree, it's absolutely tiresome to discuss the negatives of the team, and after the last few years, its ****ing old. But if that holds true, then so does the opposite.

I don't mind anyone not agreeing with what I post, I really like the debate, but I feel like this place is starting to resemble the VN equivelant of The Stepford Wives.

All is well..... :ermm: ok...

This goes back to the point I made over the summer; the fact that either a vocal minority or majority (honestly, its hard to tell) on here thinks that CBJ's strides off the field will somehow translate to immediate wins and erase all concerns from last year to this year...is not necessarily a good thing.

I'm all for buying in, because I have, but I'm also for sound logic as well. Dismissing things like the strength and accuracy of Worley's arm, the secondary in general, depth concerns across the board, and a blatant exaggeration of the amount of talent at all positions is reaching epidemic levels on here.

NO...it's not doom and gloom, but they ARE concerns. You can agree or disagree, that's fine, but it's gotten to the point where people who bring valid points to the discussion are "nega-vols" or "bUTch please, we're fine."

Sigh...let the flaming commence.

Nothing wrong with being concerned. But, concerned about what? Anyone who is living in realism knows this team should not win nine plus games.

The things they lacked have been observed by the majority of the non lunatic fraction of our fan base.

Worley will never be a Heisman candidate. Depth is not good. For once, we have what appears to be guys who know how to actually recruit and run a program.

The things that concern us now should've been a concern before CBJ was even hired.

If we don't win 7 plus games, my opinion will not change on the issues we have brought up. It is because of these issues and several more why this team doing any better than the 5-6 win expectations most of us have, would be one of the best coaching jobs ever.

I have said all along that I just want us to look like a real football team with warm up thru the end of the game. To keep competing regardless of the score because that should be the true character of a player or person who will be successful.

It appears we are on that track. Not saying it is you. But some on this site just seem to want to piss and moan about everything. I am not talking about Bruin either. He does have some positive things to say from time to time. However, at times his motivation just seems to be along the lines of wanting to argue just for the sake of it.

The posters who just want to say ONLY negative things are just as bad if not worse than the ones who are ONLY positive.

I know this was too long but some just need to quit bringing their horrible attitude toward TN football here on such a consistent basis. Football is fun and we love it but life is so much better. These same folks will be on here like dawg fans when we are competing for championships and winning 10 games and wanting this staff fired. Heard it during all the years I lived in Knoxville in the 90's and it is just plain dumb.

Read like poetry to my ears.

Louisville looked like a team that isn't going to lose. That's going to make for a hell of a debate if it happens

Ohio plays APSU so we can kind of gauge Leweyville... My guess is they're pretty good, but the Bobcats looked slow, small, and untalented.

Anyone interested in joining the basketball forum fantasy football league? Draft is tonight at 9, we need 1 more...if interested post your email and ill send you the invite immediately.

I remember last year at the Vandy game when they were using the speed gun on Bray and Worley was throwing over 50 Miles an hour which is suppose to be good. Now he seems to have arm strength issues. I do not think it is arm strength as much as being afraid to mess up and is aiming the ball. I really noticed it on some of the crossing type patterns where he was throwing the ball in locations that only his receivers could catch but that also limited YAC.
