For anyone who's interested, JC threw 3 less completions, 22 less yards and 1 more interception than "Superman" did. Where Tebow did great was his rushing yards. So.......Crompton, even though he couldn't help us win, he did pretty good I think.

When you have a coach who can keep the game that close using the quarterback he has, it's an improvement.

You play within your means. It's the same as last year for the O. Run, use the clock, minimize turnovers. We now have a better stable of backs to run and control the game. It would be nice to see some different formations (double back set). Also I really think David Oku can be a game changer for us. He has speed to burn. Wish we would have run a toss sweep on the gased UCLA D on the last drive. No way they were gonna catch him. He's to fast and they were to tired. Overall we did Ok yesteday. Still prefer lizard boots. Future is solid with this class and the #1 coming in. Lane train is moving in the right directios. GO VOLS.....Class of 93'

Exactly.

The other half of the stats equation is that Teabow RAN for 76 yards. He made better decisions and if it wasn't for Teabow we would have completely shut out their offense.

You simply cannot beat quality opponents when you have one of the worst QBs in your conference (he is the worst I have seen at UT, ever, period).

Can he improve? Yes he can. I think a good to great performance against Ohio will boost his confidence. He needs that badly, but Lane for now has scaled his playbook WAAAAAY back. We just don't have the talent in the most important spot for offense to do well. Just like last year, Crompton still stinks.

When Kiffin allowed Crompton to make plays throwing deep. Guess what? INT and INT and incomplete.

Even though their passing stats are nearly the same - the impact of the 2 couldn't be further apart.

Clearly a situation where stats don't tell the story.

who has film of crompton when he was in high school? i want to see what all the fuss was about?

The sad part is that is still all Crompton is able to manage even with Florida stacking 8 in the box, not to mention he actually had good protection and time to throw yesterday too. I thought he threw a couple out of bounds too early and he could have at least tucked it and run on those for a few yards. But thats him in panic mode after he makes too many mistakes.

We settled for 2 FGs early and JC missed a wide open receiver in the end zone. Thats 21 points we missed out on because of QB play. If thats an improvement to some of you, thats your opinion. However, thats not the mainstream view of Crompton today or throughout his career. Our offensive play was better because our OL pushed UF around most of the day and our backs took care of business.

JC's career INT stat has now dropped to an average of 1 INT per 13 ATT. That is farking rediculous.

Where? We had to play with our hands tied because they couldn't trust Crompton to throw down field. Most his completions were to backs behind the line or screens

realize what a silly--i'll be diplomatic and just call it silly--comment that is. QBs are SUPPOSED to help you win! It just shows how absurd Vol nation (in general, not this board) has become when some CELEBRATE the fact that we only got beat by 10 points and that we through for 90 yards with two picks. Sad. :mf_surrender:

It's not Crompton's fault that Fulmer couldn't recruit a better QB over the last 4 years.
