Crompton's Dad escorted from game?

Yeah it was a different guy. This guy was on the first row of that section. As bad as Crompton has been he is still a college kid and it would be tough as a parent to sit there and hear fans talk about him. I don't mind people talking about his football iq but the personal attacks are a little much. I just wonder how much more we will have to watch of him.

I agree with you 100%. These are the same "fans" who make death threats, boo our players when big time recruits are visiting and are overall destructive to the program. They don't have enough sense to realize it. They are just plain stupid.

Crompton may not be a good QB, but he is a college kid who chose UT and gives his all. Booing him or other Vols serves no positive purpose for the team.

Crompton is a kid who is doing his very best. It's pretty obvious that his best isn't good enough for a top caliber team. But he's giving his all, and two coaching staffs have confirmed he's the best we have.

Anyone who takes personal shots at this guy is a douche. A loser. A douchy loser. Don't blame the kid for not being great. Blame the recruiting staff who put our QB situation where it is.

Exactly. Enough said.

people that would blatantly yell at crompton instead of kiffin would yell at a handicapped person ...if you want to yell at someone direct it at the guy making 2 million dollars a year that lets crompton stay in the game...

Not only that, but he wanted to be a Vol so badly that he was willing to sit the bench for 3 years (minus the 2 games in '06 when Ainge was hurt) before he got his shot. Unlike a certain QB for the UTC Mocs, he didn't whine about not being the starter when he had not yet earned it. I guess that's the main reason why I respect Crompton despite the fact that he sucks. It's not his fault that The Fired Coach couldn't get a better QB.

I was sitting in Y7 Row 4 and this douche of a "fan" yelled 'your son sucks' at Crompton's family. Not sure if the guy in the visor was his dad or not--could have been if he has lost some weight, but his younger brother was sitting there with him. Anyone would react like that. I'm sick of hearing people yell crap about Crompton. I thought it was great the douche was told to STFU and that it was obvious he had never been out on the field and knew what it was like. JC is our QB so deal with it. WE DON'T HAVE ANYONE BETTER. Period. Drop it.

I was on Cromptons rear the whole game too. Now, it would have been hilarious to have seen Crompton's dad get escorted out, but that's not the way the cops handled it. Figures, wonder if Crompton is treated like a celebrity?

I guess you are one who boos the team when recruits are in the stands. Real smart mister genius. You will find something to boo or hate. Crompton may not be the best, but he is the best we have and idiots booing want make it any better. Grow up.

since we're middle of the pack does that mean you're bottom of the pack?

This guy is typical of what many Gamecock fans have become in the last few years. I have been going to the games in Columbia and been around the fans for the last decade and have seen this change. The have had a *tiny* bit of success and have inflated their egos. They are basically like "new money" folks.

The facts:
1. They have caught us on a few down years, but have and will never be able to beat us on a consistent basis.
2. This version of Spurrier is NOT the old Spurrier. Face it.
3. They are an ACC team and I would SO be in favor of trading them to get GA Tech back in a conference with us.

Good Day :hi:

Actually, Crompton's dad DID throw a punch. Unfortunately, instead of hitting the UT fan yelling at him, he missed and hit an Ohio fan right in the numbers. Looks like inaccuracy runs in the family.

Now you know the rest of the story.
...

Good Day!

now thats just funny :lolabove:

Crompton sucks, really bad. But, if anyone had the nerve to tell me my son sucks, I'd beat his ass. So Cromptons father did better than I would

I just saw this thread, but I thought I'd share my story from the UCLA game. Of course, everyone in that game was booing Crompton like crazy. I sit in the players' family section, I was actually sitting next to Brandon Warren's family this game. After a three and out these three girls started yelling "YOU SUCK CROMPTON! GET YOUR ASS OUT OF THE GAME" among other things. This woman two rows down turns around, points at them, and yells "YOU SHUT UP! THAT'S MY SON!" The girls sat down and didn't say a word the rest of the game. Crompton's mom never once stood up (besides to yell at the girls) the whole game, she just sat there and rocked back and forth shaking with her head in her hands. She was an absolute wreck. The typical redneck fan was right behind us yelling some of the most vulgar things imaginable at Crompton, and she went to say something to him after the game, but Brandon's dad stopped her and told her it wasn't worth it luckily. There was a man sitting next to her, but he never reacted to anything any fans said, so I doubt it was his dad.

It has to be hard on JC's parents to hear him booed and belittled because he isn't Peyton Manning. The attacks during games need to stop or be shifted to the people in charge who keep throwing him into the lion's den. We all know JC is average on the field at best. No amount of censure or condemnation is going to transform him into the QB we want him to be. On the other hand, life (and football) is brutal. What doesn't kill you will only make you stronger. Right? :dunno:

Um, no one expects him to be Peyton Manning. However, JC is simply awful. He's not even average. Awful, I tell you. This fact doesn't sit well with A LOT of fans. CLK may learn something this year; 100,000 fans do have a say in what happens on the field. The best way he can shut people up is with quality wins.

Once he figures out he can't get quality wins with JC, he'll go to plan B. He could easily let NS start a series or two. The problem is, if NS does well, CLK is in the frying skillet answering questions about why he waited so long.

I have no idea what NS can or cannot do. I do know that JC is a cancer in this team. Unfortunately, it looks like we'll never get to know what NS can do. By the UGA game, I expect to see the OL half heartedly blocking for JC - they have to be getting tired of him too.

This thread is pathetic. Who cares if some guy fitting the description of JC's dad got escorted out? I've heard alot worse things than STFU in the stands at Neyland. What a baby to go and get the security guard cause some guy told you to STFU. If everyone was dogging your kid and you had to sit there and listen to it, wouldn't you be angry too? I get frustrated by JC as much as the next guy, but don't expect a parent to sit idly by and let some idiot trash their kid in front of them. Show some respect.

That's ok I blame Phil and his cronies for putting the team in the position it is currently in.

Im not saying its right to trash the kid infront of his parents, but come on, who cares if jc is trying his best, his best doesnt cut it, this isnt the 7yr old ymca league where you have to baby him and pat him on the back everytime he screws up

On Crompton's wikipedia page...

"He believes in his heart that he's one of the premier quarterbacks in this country," David Crompton said. "He's tired of taking a backseat to anybody. If that sounds egotistical, I'm sorry."

... I don't know why but I felt like posting that. I chuckled when I read it. I chuckled more so when I saw that Crompton had a wiki page. Kind of a head scratcher.

How would you as a father feel to hear 100,000 people bad mouthing your son?...That family has to be going through hell....All this to play for a school they love...Real shame it doesn't love them back they way it should...Good or bad the kid is a VOL.
Yep.There's been constant denigrating of the kid in here and now we're jabbing his dad.

Football is one of those things that needs to be put in perspective. I want to win as much as anyone but when it comes to trying to DESTROY a young man who has more ability than most of his detractors (why is he out there, and we're in the stands?) it is a pathetic commentary on those who are spewing such hatred. It is sad that it has come to a point where FANS can heap vile and malicious assaults on a young boy. THINK about what you are saying...one day you may have a young son who may be subjected to the same kind of hatred, how will you feel? In the end, God will not care how many games we won or lost but he will KNOW how we treated others. It is true, what goes around, comes around and hatred has a way of coming back to you and can hurt you worse than the person you hated. Be a part of encouraging someone rather than trying to destroy them...unfortunately, I realize that is not a part of our culture today and maybe that is one reason we are where we are today!
