Crompton

The actual program at the game listed the QB depth chart with "or" between each of the three names. I believe that was one of the only positions that did this. So I would think it is still anyone's position to claim.

I listened to part of the OW game live and then watched it last night. I thought Crompton looked better on TV than he sounded on the radio. He did struggle at times but I thought he looked more confidant than he did last year.

Being from Chattanooga, I'd like to see BJ get the nod but I thought Crompton looked better than he sounded on the radio--I still thought BJ was the more effective of the two but it wasn't as decisive as it sounded on the radio.

Crompton has the 'slgiht' lead for one reason. Kiffin wants Crompton to be the starter for recruiting purposes. If all 3 QB's could lead us to the same number of wins then he would start Crompton. He knows that Coleman and Stephens are not QB's that will lead us into contention for the SEC Championship. He wants to sell to QB recruits that the starting QB is a senior and that they can come in and start their first year. But Kiffin also wants to win. That is the scenario that plays out if he feels like all 3 QB's are going to give them about the same chance to win. If he thinks Coleman will give them a better shot to win games then he would make that decision because he is too much of a competitor and the rest of the team deserves that.

maybe its because im not a fan of crompton and im just being too harse, but I wasnt impressed with him. Sure, he was better than last year but still not at the level he should be in order to compete in the SEC. He was still only what,,13 for 28? The passes that he did complete were mostly because the WRs were grabbing everything near them. Most of his complete passes were off enough that the WR had to adjust to catch it and lose momentum. I was at least glad to see him checking through his WRs. This was a nice change from last year when he would stare at the guy from the line all the way till he threw it.

Coleman was who really impressed me. He made smart decisions, fought to get the ball where he wanted it/needed to be, and he made things happen.....such as that TD pass. The only pass that I saw that wasnt a good decision was the one that flew out of the back of the end zone. Coleman seems to be a leader as well and I would love to see him start. At least he now has a chance to show himself. He got what....6 passes last year? Sure he was a freshman but as a coach you should be able to notice talent and exploit it.

Sorry for my rant. I am just not a fan of Crompton anymore just like I wasnt a fan of Clauson a few years ago. I hope he can step up to the plate and deliver but I dont have the faith right now. Of course, Ainge made a great improvement and so I guess it can happen.

Also agree with that

I could care less as to whether Coleman is the starter. Coleman's arm strength appears to be a problem and everyone is aware of the Vols difficulty in stretching the field due to QB or receiver shortcomings.

LK is being paid the big bucks to make the right call as to who will give us the best chance at winning. I don't believe that LK will know that until after the Western Kentucky game. I'm guessing at least two QBs will get significant playing time in that game.

Crompton did actually start ok. But he got worse as the game went on. He is not our future QB. I say we let this Rozier guy come in and lead us for 4 years.
