Crompton

I noticed the article didnt mention his surgery as a freshmen. I assume because it's a non-issue now, good.

IMO he's going to be the starter. UT doesn't bench the #3 QB prospect in the nation very often. Usually it's their position to lose.

They ALL seem very appetizing to me. I just hope we find a way to keep 'em all and give them mins. I HATE to see a solid talent, that could achieve great things, spend a few years playing back-up and never get the chance to see if he may be a very special "late bloomer". This seems to be a VERY sound group of young men. Replacing Ainge is the LEAST of my worries.

That is how you should answer all the talk about B.J. being the starter, fight for it.

No, you should answer it by not throwing the ball to the other team every single time you get a chance to play vs a willing opponent. But that's out of the question.

that's not enough time to get a gage on him or get him in a passing groove.

He played 2 entire games last year. He'll be fine... add in the fact that BJ Coleman seem serious in his attitude to beat him out and voila... you have a man committed to do his best.

Excuse my last comment.... it's one of those nights.

Precision passing is Ainge's forte and what UT's O was built around this year aka dink and dunk. I'd expect an O built around JC to look more like BC's O with Matt Ryan.

Without the Matt Ryan.

Yeah... you are probably right. Everyone KNEW that Ryan was going to be great in 2004 before he was a starter... and completed just under 50% of his passes.:ermm:

I honestly don't know how good JC will be... but he has better natural tools than Matt Ryan.

Well, all I know is that either BJ or Crompton will be the starter next year and I am confident that either can get the job done.

And you base that on?

I've watched BJ Coleman and JC both throw passes and roll out in warmups and practice, BJ has a stronger, more accurate arm and moves around as well or better. So from that POV on the argument, then BJC can get the same argument as JC. Only difference is that BJC hasn't had the chance to step on the field, but I'm quite confident that when he does, he won't throw it to the other team more than 50% of the time like someone else I know of.

Please cite the reference that shows JC throws INT's 50% of the time... it was a stupid exaggeration, right?

Based on what? Based on the assessments of guys who get paid alot of money to evaluate talent... Are you one of those guys?

I've watched BJ Coleman and JC both throw passes and roll out in warmups and practice, BJ has a stronger, more accurate arm and moves around as well or better.
So... based on your evaluation of warm ups and perhaps just a little bias seeing you are from Chattanooga... BJ is better... OK:birgits_giggle:...

I honestly don't know which one will win out and don't care that much as long as whoever it is gets the job done.

JC has been all orange. He's sat for 3 years when he could have been a first year starter for Spurrier. He WANTED to be a Vol and was one of the top QB recruits the year he came out.

Matt Ryan was a 3* that developed. Great for him. But the ACC isn't exactly the SEC and he completed under 50% of his passes last night against MSU.

lets get a non biased opinion. You will have your 2 years of Coleman after 2 years of Crompton

That's one thing I'm really hoping to see happen. We need to get out of this cycle that we've been in where we have to play freshmen at QB.

If your from Chattanooga it doesn't matter if Crompton's the bastard child of Neyland & Majors, ranked as the #1 QB recruit in the country, and butt raped Bear Bryant you'll never be better than Coleman....:p
