Will he throw more or less against UCLA?

I think if he throws less, we win easily. If he throws, let's say, 21 passes, that means the O-line is having their way with UCLA's d-line, and we're pounding the rock with ease.

However, if he throws 35 passes, that probably means we're struggling to run or we got behind early. He's more likely to make mistakes the more passes he throws, also.

So, what do you think? More or less than 28 passes?

Run will set up the pass. Expect similar numbers. Stephens will come out in the beginning of the 4th. We will stomp UCLA

Yeah 25 or 28 times sound good. I hate when a team falls behind and gets off the gameplan. It seems to me that when this Lane Kiffin coached team goes to play Saturday the gameplan is pretty much set in stone. They have it all predetermined. The running game is the gateway drug so to speak. Set up some beautiful fades to our recievers. Crompton needs to stay sharp and it will be hard to stop us. Seriously, he looks like he knows the playbook backwards and forwards. Last couple of years he looked LOST. That was the highlight of Saturday for me. Throwing to SPACE. That is a pro move. Not throwing to the receiver but to where the reciever is goin to be in 3 seconds when the tight spiral you are throwing gets there.

The QB is the absolute most important thing to any team. Seems like the VOLS got a good one this year.

I don't see either of these happening, although we may still throw the ball 35 times or more. If we struggle running against UCLA it will make for a long day in the swamp.

hopefully the same or less. I dont want to see him anywhere near that 41 attempts we saw last year (with like 17 completions wasn't it?)

I'll saw he will throw 24 times. I think Kiffin will do the exact same thing this weekend as he did against WKU. Cromptons first 7-10 throws will be screens or 5 yard routes to get his confidence going then he will open it up more as the game progresses.

Amen! One of the more frustrating things in the Fatboy era was the "we're going to establish the run at all cost" doctrine. In today's college game, this is suicide. We spent a lot of time running back to the sidelines after another 3 and out. You can't cover everything and there's going to be space available somewhere as you point out. The old mantra of "take what the defense gives you" comes into play here. The new offensive set allows a competent quarterback and offensive coordinator to take advantage of that.

I thought Crompton played really good....I wish the Offensive line would block a little harder on Pass Plays so D-Lineman cant get their hands on the ball...They are taught to knock the D-Line on their butts if they jump like that...Other then those two tipped balls I thought he delivered the ball really well. I thought the backs picked up their blocks well and Cooper had a great game run blocking as our Fullback. If he can do that every game we are going to have some big runs....
I was really excited to see D. Moore make a catch and run...good to see his foot is almost ready...I am praying to get G.Jones back out there....but the others did really well during the game....
I like Kiffin I was much happier with the Tempo of the game and the way the players were hustling after the ball....I know it was Western but you cant take away from the intensity....

i think that due to the personal feelings of CLK and CO, and the chemistry our whole team. we are are gonna beat the bruins like a bunch of baby back b**ches!!!!

If we get the same kind of rushing avg per carry, he throws about 25-30. We were not in a lot of 3rd and longs nor behind, where he needed to pass much.

I really like running the ball. Beating a team by running all over them is demoralizing and sets up the play action pass beautifully. But if crompton can take advantage of a mismatch I want him to throw it. I think he showed he can throw the ball vs wky. But yes, I would like to see us play some tough, agressive football and run the ball down ucla's throat.

CLK has said he would rely on the run so I would expect the same type of ratio against UCLA. We ran the ball 44 times and passed 32. Numbers won't be quite as high because I assume UCLA will come at us with a better offense, but I still see us running the ball more. I honestly don't see us trailing UCLA so don't see us having to abandon our running game.

Some of those early sideline passes were a little scary. He would take the snap, turn and throw to the receiver without even looking. Some of the bigger, faster corners could jump that and it would be off to the house. I don't know that ucla has corners that can do that but I'm sure gators and bammers do. And you know they are all going to be taking the film of the wku game apart.

True...but I guarantee CLK didn't show 1/4 of his hand against WKU. Wouldn't surprise me to see 15 different plays to start game against UCLA and 15 even different plays against UF. The guy's an offensive guru and the rest of the offensive staff are on their games as well...

If they play with the same discipline and intensity, they can beat anyone..........all I can say is a 360 degree turnaround from last few years and the O line lost a lot of weight because they made it through the whole game.
