If he puts up the same performance against the Gators, I'll apologize.

Not until then.

Our offense today played better than our offense at any point last year. Period. Sure it was against crappy teams, but we played plenty of crappy teams last year. Offense has turned 180 degrees

I agree. I know it is still early, but just be honest. Do you see us wining like this last year under the same circumstances (WKU) with the coaching staff from last year?

If he puts up the same performance against the Gators or Bama, I will pay Freak for a full-size ad begging his forgiveness.

As long as it doesn't cost over a dollar.

Doesn't that statement make you guilty?

I am THRILLED the Vols won. I'm just not jumping on the Cromptrolley till we play a worthy opponent.

I'm not jumping on the Comptrolley either. All I said was that he had an exceptional game today... which he did. I would take these stats (including the two picks) in any game this year. However, I would prefer hanging out with fans on the Comptrolley any day to those who choose to ride the Debbie Downer express.

How was the first pick not his fault? He threw to a receiver that was covered. The defender tipped the ball.

It was a bad read. Period.

Not trying to be debbie downer... being realistic. WKU != UCLA/SEC

Would love nothing more than for Crompton to be the next Tee Martin. Just want to see some real competition before we make a judgment.

From what I saw (just going by memory which could be wrong) the receiver was open. JC's pass was too much to the inside (should have thrown to the back side of the receiver) and a linebacker (not the defender) made a good play by getting a hand on the ball.

FWIW, I don't expect Crompton to be the next Tee Martin but who knows... he may have a great season this year. I just think he deserves a fair opportunity before being thrown under the bus.

Nothing personal... but shouldn't you be hanging out in the Criticism of the Game or Means Nothing!!! threads?

Just seems like maybe you'd be happier there! :)

Oh, don't mind me. I'm happy wherever I am. :)

I just read this on ESPN

Crompton finished 21 of 28 with two interceptions, and his five TD passes was one more than his entire output last season.

Nice job, Mr. Crompton. Keep up the good work!

There. Feel better now?

The staff has done a great job of getting Crompton's head back on straight. Good day. Let's all hope it continues.

Dont forget we are only play WKU. I wanna get my hopes up & give Crompton credit but this what he is suppose to be doing to teams like this.

Yeah and old way of blowing a low level team was a 35-3 win game against UAB

and we were only playing northern Illinois for a landslide victory of 13-9 .

and we were only playing Wyoming for that massive come from ahead , snatch the loss from the jaws of victory game that was lost 13-7

Yeah this was a weak opponent but it is CLEAR that the team has made massive improvement and will in all likely hood perform better against highly regarded opponents .

Just a reminder that we did not only struggle against The Gators and Tides of the world ...we were equal opportunity strugglers!

The QB I feel the most guilt around is Coleman. While we should never support a quitter, maybe he was right? Maybe Coleman was the better of the two and was so frustrated with the coaches that he just left in disgust.

I've never believed in JC. My mistake was thinking our coaching staff could make a QB out of JC. When you're bad, you're bad; there's no saving you.
