Crompton released from San Diego

I'd say his football career is over. At least he graduated (I think), so he's got a degree, and can pursue other interests.

Just not that good I guess. Glad he turned into an asset for us for most of his last season.

Wonder if something else happend too? Seems odd that they would drop him so quick... Maybe he just didnt have "it"... I really thought he had a chance to at least hold a clip board somewhere, but SD has some good QB's.

I think he'll get picked up. I was confused why San Diego drafted him.

sometimes teams release a player from a practice squad because they have a chance to make a roster somewhere else. Good luck Crompton.

I think he was drafted because of his impressive physical qualities, which is worth taking a flyer on a late pick.

But I think they realized that it wasnt clicking with him.

All i can say is that crompton wont make it in the next level because of his brain. He made some throws last year that maybe only shuler has made since ive been following UT. It has nothing to do with his physical talent. Too bad he cant bring it all together.

3 picks in 33 attempts with a QB rating of 35.3. Against other scrubs looking to make practice squads.

Still not sure why everyone thought he did so well? On the surface, sure. 2800 yards and 27 td's. Only 14 of those came in 3 games (5vWKU, 5vMemphis, and 4vGa). Leaving 13 more in the remaining 10 games. Not to forget back to back 93 yards and 0 Td's vs UCLA and Fla........ Glad the guy finally put together a nice year, but still very inconsistent and erratic. He had the talent, but am sure multiple coaching changes took a toll on the dude, but lets not pretend he was that great!

The clipboard he holds has a higher IQ than that poor kid. That wasn't nice to say ,but in all seriousness he wasn't exactly QB caliber in the head.

San Diego has Volek. He's as good as you'd want for a backup. Hard to justify keeping a rookie. He may still get picked up somewhere, but I'm not sure he's got what it takes.

Forgot. He had a nasty four year case of it. I hope if he runs into that again his immune system can fight it off a little quicker.

He sure did.

I was like :jawdrop: when San Diego picked him up. They were solid.

I'm sure he'll get picked up by someone.

He sure did.

But I'm sure he'd have come out of it. It's not like Clawson said:

"I don't think we did anything consistently well"

"I don't think at any point as an offensive unit that we had any confidence going into a game, even into a scrimmage,"

"Those things just don't go away over the course of the season and hope they go away"

"At not one point did I ever feel that we had confidence as an offense"

Hmmm, sounds a lot like vapor lock. He obviously did come out of it - time and continuity were the issues. He needed both. The bowl game in 2008 would have been immense for Crompton. He might not be looking for work now.

Notice Simms leadership qualities taking the foreground currently. Despite his footwork, release, stare - the offense has confidence in Simms.
