Crompton received death threats???

Death threats are bogus, but he shouldn't let them bother him.

I mean really... the way our OL played, it must have felt like one every time the coaches sent in a pass play.

So if you received some death threats you think you could just totally ignore them and forget about them?

It had to bother a person when they get them, regardless of how legit they are.

Angry hillbillies drinking there whiskey say the darndest things. I was upset to here that his car was vandalized. As much as I love UT football I could not imagine doing this to a young man. As heard before, the qb gets too much credit and too much blame. JC has had 4 different coaches to learn from. The entire O sucked last year. That includes the line, WR, RB, TE. We had talent last year on O. The scheme and the coaching sucked. Sucked. I hope JC tears it up. He was recruited by Lane!!!!! Kid has talent

If JC does well, it will be those same retards that threatened him that will sing his praises louder than the next guy

The truth of the matter is that JC is probably one of the biggest Vol fans there ever has been. No matter how bad he played or plays, we need to give him our support. The kid never gives up hope. I must say he has one of the strongest mental attitudes I have seen in a Tennessee Vol uniform.

I along with many other people called him Incrompetent on message boards, but death threats?

That's just stupid.

Randy Sanders got them too, he said the turning point for him came when his WIFE AND DAUGHTERS were verbally assaulted in the grocery store about the playcalling in a previous game.

I get just as mad as anyone, I wanted RS gone two years or more before they finally pulled the trigger, but that's just rediculous.

Sad, but not in the least bit surprising. UT has a large athletic base of sidewalk supporters along with alumni. The university and surrounding businesses have capitalized on this large fan base and set a bar of success high along with premium tickets, food, and lodging costs. When the team stinks, there are going to be fans that take it personally because it is a large financial investment to see their beloved Vols.

The University has created and supported the "professional" model of running the athletic program. There should be no surprise this activity is going on - it's quite common in rabid fan bases of professional teams.

If Crompton got death threats then I'm afriad to know what Arian Foster got.

I really don't see the point in coming out with this now. I mean honestly as bad as he played last year, did you all not think that someone would do something like that. Also, it could have been something like, "Crompton, You suck. Kill yourself". I mean come on this whole story is based off a couple mystical e-mails and a UPS box.

I guess I'll play ******* here and say the PR machine is spinning.

This really makes you want to cheer for this guy. If there's justice in the universe, he'll have a nice senior season.

Moreover, if Crompton was getting death threats I wonder what was popping up in Phil and Mike Hamilton's email last year?

Hate to say it, but it doesn't surprise me. Never underestimate people's ability to lack perspective and act like morons.

No . . . but I killed a couple of trolls that couldn't stop talking about it.

i take sports too seriously, but thats going way over board.

I yell and scream at the TV and say retarded stuff durng a game. I find it difficult to comprehend how angry a person can be that they actually put together boxes and letters to college players. Creepy. These guys probably stalk the Miss Tennessee contestants in their spare time

As much as a cussed and yelled at the tv because of Crompton last year, I can't imagine what kind of morons would do such a terrible thing to a STUDENT ATHLETE.

Sports aren't the important things in life and no one should receive death threats because of a bad season in freakin football, sheesh. Sorry, I'll get off of the soapbox now. :)

When I hear stories like this, it makes me realize how screwed up our priorities are sometimes. How sad that there are people walking around who would even contemplate threatening a young man! It is one thing to be passionate about your team but it must be kept in perspective. I wonder if Jonathan reported anything to the police so that it could be investigated...it should have been and whoever was responsible should be punished. We may assume that it was one of our fans, but maybe it wasn't. I hope Jonathan does well.

2 people (according to Crompton) made threats. Let say there are roughly half a million people who follow Tennessee football.

Therefore, we're looking (according to Crompton) at 0.00040% of Tennessee fans being stupid enough to do that.

Additionally, this is great for recruiting. I'm sure the other coaches will just let this one go.

Again, why even come out with this? I bet Fulmer and Hamilton got so many death threats it would blow your mind. Fulmer, being one to throw things in front of him to deflect public opinion, didn't say a word about it.
