You know what I feel a lot better about how this guy thinks his motivations and the dynamics involved behind his actions or thought process. This revaluation changes the whole dynamic of his senior season.

Good article. As painful as he was to watch last year, he is a lifelong UT fan and seems to be a good kid. I liked Stephens better last year, but if Crompton starts, I hope for everyone's sake he makes the most of it.

I can't believe there are so many ignorant bastards running around. That story just made me more of a Crompton fan and I will be pulling for him to succeed in his senior year even more than before.

Death threats are bogus, but he shouldn't let them bother him.

I mean really... the way our OL played, it must have felt like one every time the coaches sent in a pass play.

I loved Crompton before last year. I hated him last year, but loved his passion for the game. I hope he proves me wrong this year. I hope he proves a lot of us wrong this year. If Crompton believes he can do it, in Crompton I trust. Go vols.

I don't care how much a player sucks on the field, you don't ever stoop to the level of those idiots if you're a true fan. I was as critical of Crompton's performance last year as anybody, but I hope he proves those pathetic excuses for "fans" wrong this year.

As much as I never want to admit it, football is still just a game...anyone who is miserable enough to make death threats against someone over a bad football season seriously needs help...

I heard the message was posted by someone named Clawson and it came from an IP address owned by Fulmer....... All joking aside this story is disturbing.

That is absolutely ridiculous. Wish we could prevent those people from ever wearing orange or coming to a game.

I have always liked Crompton and that story makes me want to see him succeed even more. I have met John before and he is a super nice guy. Go get em this year John!

Boy did I cuss Crompton last year and started calling him Crapton after the UCLA fiasco, but this is just stupid. I would imagine that no one would actually act on these threats no matter how bad a college kid plays on the field. I really hope Jon can turn it around. A country boy can survive.

i didnt like how crompton played last year but this is going WAY to far. Your life shouldn't be put on jeopardy just cause of not having a good season

Crompton received death threats during 2008 season; QB never told UT : Football : GoVolsXtra.com

i hate that the guy was subjected to this kind of stuff, but i still can't say that i'm that surprised that it happened either. it crossed my mind several times last season what kind of stuff the poor guy was probably receiving in his e-mail and cell phone from demented "fans" like this. like it or not, there are sadly people crazy enough to do such a thing in our fan base. every sec team probably has a few stupid people like this.

Crazy. I was not a fan of Crompton, but death threats is taking it way too far. He bleeds orange and is giving giving his all for the team.
