Crompton rated above Tebow for NFL Draft

that kiffin guy must have really sucked. . .
Crompton always had the talent. Unfortunately for him he came to UT when there was a new OC every year. He would have flourished as a Junior and Senior if Cutcliffe had been OC. Give Douche Bag credit for recognizing talent. But changing from that piece of junk offense in 2008 to the pro style in 2009 made the major difference in Crompton.

Crompton flourished in a Pro-Style offense coached by Chaney and the coaching of Reeves. The Sr Bowl killed any chances of NFL teams taking Tebow seriously.
Crompton may be 4th round pick but Tebow may not get drafted.

Chaney may have behind the scenes. Who knows? Kiffin did it in public. People were calling for him to be benched after the UCLA game and Kiffin said that he believed Crompton was the QB that gave the Vols the best chance at winning and that he was NOT going to bench him. I think that really helped Crompton's confidence. We can all have our negative opinion's on Kiffin, but he did the right thing by supporting Crompton. Cutcliffe was an idiot for saying that he wasn't coachable.

At that point in JC's career Cut may very well have been right.

I've said it on here a couple of times before, but I heard JC speak at an FCA breakfast in December in Knoxville and he said himself the biggest difference between his first 4 years and this past year was that this past year he actually cared about football and worked at it. Before his 4th year he was sick of football and almost quit. It explains a whole lot. If anyone else that posts here was there that day then they can vouch for it, but Crompton did say it.

The guy has the arm to at least be a back-up in the pros. If he works at it and learns to game, he can stick around. Ask Jim Sorgi, that ain't a bad gig.

Matt Cassel didn't even start for his college team and now he is a starting QB in the league, just to mention one example. Crompton put up good numbers against SEC defenses and was playing behind one of the weakest O-lines we've had in a long time. He definitely has the skills to get the job done if he dedicates himself and lands in the right system. I think his experience here at UT definitely should give him the mental fortitude to hang in the NFL for a bit. Who knows how it will pan out though.

Would it be possible for Crompton to win more Superbowl Rings than Manning?
That would be a shocker!

If Crompton can play NFL ball I can grow wings and fly to the moon.

He's probably not going to start, but almost no college QBs end up doing so. A hundred QBs come out of college every year, there are only 32 NFL starting QB jobs....and half the teams in the league still can't find a solid first-string QB. I don't care how good you are in college, the odds are stacked against you. If Crompton can even hold down a job holding a clipboard for a couple of years it would be a massive accomplishment, considering where he came from.

I guess as Vol fans we can hope that Chaney was the one who had the most to do with Crompton's improvement, but Kiffin is the one who doggedly stuck with Crompton despite immense pressure to try somebody else, and Kiffin was the one calling the plays that were tailored to work to Crompton's strengths. The way he handled Crompton was probably the biggest thing that convinced me that there's a pretty good football coach buried in there under all the jackassetry.

:lolabove::post-4-1090547912: Get real dude, Manning is a QB Master. Crompton had 1 good season, it will not happen. Yes I was impressed with him this past season, but win more than Manning, NOT!!!

Crompton has good size and a good arm, and he was hurt at UT by a very weak receiving corp and different coaching staffs, but he's a project. Kiffin and Chaney greatly simplified the passing game for him last year. Crompton holds the ball too long. In the NFL you've gotta read the field quickly, make your progressions and throw--accurately. You gotta be smart to be an effective QB nowadays. I'm surprised that he didn't at least get a combine invite.

Interesting and I think pretty good evaluations of all the QB's. Would have been great had JC had a complete yr to get the offense down and the weapons at his disposal to make the plays. I too hope this was more Chaney's tutoring and Kiffins credit grabbing. Granted the simplified offense helped a great deal. We will find out if it was Chaney because we should see big things out of Bray then. GBO

Irrelevant IMO. Kind of like Coke. Pretty close to all the competing soda tastes it's just Tebow has an advertised reputation that will fill the stadiums, at least temporarily, win or lose.

The score currently is only 1-0 Manning.

Me thinks some of you are putting a little too much stock in this ranking.
