Crompton rated above Tebow for NFL Draft

All those years of waiting to see him get it done...

He finally did it!

Wish we had him for a couple more now.

If he gets drafted 5th ahead of Tebow, McCoy, Snead, et al. in this year's draft as predicted by Rotoworld today, somebody is going to get some serious credibility points for coaching QBs. It wasn't Reaves. I hope it's Chaney.

I believe most will give credit to Kiffin for Crompton's turn around but everyone knows that Chaney can turn out some good QBs.

Sweet I never thought ofter the 2008 season he would be rated the fifth best QB in this draft. I guess that just goes to show what a good year and hard work will do for ya. Good luck crompdaddy.

But how legit is Rotoworld (a fantasy sports website) in being able to judge talent for NFL teams? It's great for JC...I wish we had him around for a couple more seasons, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I hate to say, but I think Lane deserves some credit. It seems to me he brought a more simplistic scheme than what was in place in 2007....less thinking and more playing. Crompton was able to learn it and eventually played pretty well later in the season. Given another year to learn and play in it, Crompton could have put up some solid numbers.

I want to give Chaney as much credit as possible because I think he's a quality guy and coach, but it was never too clear what his job was. Lane took almost all of the credit for calling the plays. Something tells me Chaney had a little more to do with the offense's success than he's given credit for. Just my two cents

GO VOLS!!!

This is great. I think McCoy doesn't have the size to be great in the NFL, for health reasons. He had like 3 concussions playing in the Big 12. What is the NFL going to do to him?

that kiffin guy must have really sucked. . .

Only thing Kiff did right for Crompton was to hire Jim Chaney to coach him.... (See the QB of the team that won the Super Bowl this year)

Other than that, your post is spot-on....

Let's not forget that he took the heat for him too when Crompton struggled those first few games. Whether people want to admit or not, Kiffin really helped Jonathan and had his back 100%.

Drew is a smart man's QB. I do wonder if that's what helped Jon the most and if that's what Chaney provided.

JC always had the tools. He's got better physcial tools than does Drew Brees, FWIW.

I like this criticism: "Earlier on, he was unable to beat out Erik Ainge, who is a fringe NFL player."

Sanchez couldn't beat out Booty.
