The coaches probably think Crompton has the natural gifts to be a good quarterback. But I do think he has been telegraphing some airs of being above having to be coached. So much has been made of his not throwing interceptions he may have overcompensated. And for whatever reason it does not appear like he sees the field very well. It is the "Grossman" syndrome that contrasts so fundamentally to Peyton's capacity to move through progressions of receivers. In away it is an emotional issue that involves making a decision with regard to options and which throw will be made before the play unfolds. Notice Peyton observed that Crompton just need to calm down emotionally.
I just don't see at this point how benching risks creating a head case at this point given where Crompton's head is at currently as demonstrated by his play today. Doesn't mean his career is over just means someone else gets a chance and Crompton has got to show some improvement in making plays if he wants to continue have playing time.
