Crompton QB thread (merged a lot)

CBS analyst Gary Danielson also claimed that UT quarterback Jonathan Crompton is not ready to win a championship.

"Who knows that yet?" Fulmer rebutted. "We're very early into the season and Jonathan's made a lot of good plays for us.

What plays has he made?

i would be happy with Gerald Jones and our RB being in the backfield the rest of the year.

We can run the ball, throw short passes, and I guarantee we wouldn't fumble a damn 2 yard run into the end zone.

Crompton is terrible. He's the worst QB since A.J. Suggs.

I don't know about that. Suggs played pretty well against Florida in 2000. Joey Matthews may be a better example.

I say if nothing else you take your number two and start to give him as many reps as Crompton in practice. You tell him it is his job to lose. A good QB responds when pressure is applied, if he cannot handle it you move on.

I was listening to the Sportsmonster this morning, and they had a guy on their from Volquest interviewing him. I can't remember his name but it wasn't Hubbs. Anyways, he said he talked to Dave Clawson yesterday and he told him they have scaled back the offense from fall camp and even quite a bit since the UCLA game to try and make things easier on Crompton. I find this very concerning. By the 4th game, an offense should be getting better. If they are having to scale it back to make it easier on Crompton so he can run the offense, then I think we need to find a new QB. This makes me wonder if Fulmer is preventing Clawson from pulling Crompton. If he is having to scale back the offense, then you know he has to have doubts about Crompton. Especially since Clawson is taking heat from fans and whoever else and Fulmer will not let him get rid of the source to the problem to get things turned around.

the way we've played, we haven't been shooting ourselves in the foot, we've put the gun in our mouth and blew our damn brains out

:lolabove: Felt great to laugh.

Also, I agree that Crompton is not an SEC caliber QB. It is time to give someone else a chance no matter how young or inexperienced they may be.

I'm sorry but not knowing this system and being in your Junior year is not an excuse...I just think he is overrated...I'm all for opening up a competition with Crompton, Stephens, and Coleman

These folks don't know :censored: when it comes to running an offense.

Yea well neither does he. Crompton is big and strong, but he just doesn't have the mental capacity to understand an offensive scheme. He can work as hard as he wants but you can't fix stupid.

He's had 3 offensive coordinators in his 4 years here.

THis kid can't pass, he can't look reads and now he has shown he can't even hand the ball off!! it's obvious he doesn't think like a quarterback. It's time to dump him and put in a back up. He couldn't be worse than crompton.

The thing that concerns me is that when they showed the sideline and CPF was talking to him, he wouldn't even look CPF in the face, as if what he had to say wasn't important.
