Phil said Crompton is the starter and will be the starter in the Fall.

In Saturday's scrimmage, Crompton will not have a "no contact" green jersey. Phil said it was to show him urgency to get rid of the ball.

So, no QB controversy.

Until Crompton gets wiped out Saturday :)

Just kidding I don't wish injury on anyone.

Phil said Jon is our starter and will be in the Fall.

Well and good. If Jon goes 8 for 19 and 87 yards with 1 pick, then he has set up the makings of controversy by having already given him the job before the O&W game is played. Phil stating who the starter is does nothing to quell a controversy. Good play from Jon is the only thing that will stop a controversy.

No it doesn't. Making A decision does not settle people. Making the correct decision does. If people don't agree with your decision, then it is controversial.

Only to people who consistently think the 2nd stringer is better.

If Tennessee wins come fall, no one will care who the 2nd stringer is.

Correct. I said Jon's play will carry more weight than any decision in terms of there being or not being a controversy.

A QB controversy amongst fans is not a real QB controversy.

So...as long as Phil makes a decision and his underlings all agree then there is no controversy.

Using that...there is no head coaching controversy because the AD has decided to keep Phil.

This is a fan board...so controversy among fans is a controversy.

Because all the bitching and moaning here has really made CPF's seat hotter.

Did I say it has?

If you are trying for the matter of fact literal version...yes there is no controversy who the starter is...if Phil says X is the starter then X is the starter.
That in no way quells conversation over who SHOULD be the starter.

Scenario:
Phil names Jon starter(fact)
Jon plays horrible in game
BJ plays great in game

Instant controversy and not just among fans.

When's BJ going into the game to look good?

Barring injury, there is no controversy.

One of the main reasons I liked Casey Clausen was because he was a very tough guy, QB or not. I think Jonathan is also a tough guy and we will see if he can handle the position. It's up to the coaching staff to surround him with accomplished players at every position and come up with a game plan that matches the talent of said players. That's all we can ask.

You are correct here.

There is no controversy among those whose opinions matter. Period.
