Crompton goes pro??

is any one else concerned that jonathon crompton may decide to go pro if he has a very good season. He already has an nfl caliber arm and definately has the size that pro scouts are looking for. If he throws somewhere around 3 thousand yards with a good completion percentage and a good touchdown/interception ratio, he definately would be on the radar. now i do not think that this is gonna be the case, but every year there are players who kinda come out of nowhere and display enough to make the jump. IF he does go pro, is nunez our starter next year??

I am new to this board and for the most part love it,BUT
you get one of these crazy topics everyday
1. The most generalized what if statements in the world
2. Is Tennessee going to win the MNC
3. Why is Tennessee not recruiting this kid, he went to my HS and he is the best I have ever seen.

I never concern myself with what anyone in Knoxville is going to do in the future. If he goes, he goes. WOuld indicate UT had a really good year if that happened. I like good years. :clapping:

Uh no! There is no way in hell that Crompton goes pro after this season even if UT was to go perfect, win the NC, and Crompton won the Heisman. Well maybe if he won the Heisman but in that case hell would freeze over and wouldn't be hell anymore.

i agree with you 100%. But you have to be prepared for situations like this. Tennesse football is more than this season and u have to be able to have a contigency plan. IF he puts up the numbers, the nfl Will come calling.
why do we need said contingency plan and how would we address it? Seems to me we have a slew of backups and have signed two more for next season. I'm not sure what more we can do to prepare.

If preparedness was your reason for the post, you probably should have thought it through a bit more.

Agreed. I think he's saying that he needs the next year to prepare himself emotionally for the potential loss of Crompton. :cray:

We just had a guy in Ainge who has been playing since his freshman year, and put up some very good numbers the last two years. He didn't get drafted until the 5th round. Crompton would have to have a season better than Tebow's last year for a team to even consider taking him in the 1st round in 2009. And if he was capable of having that good of a season he probably would have been playing a couple of years ago. No doubt JC can be a good QB and has NFL potential but quaterbacks are not easily evaluated in one year alone. He needs two very good years before he is ready for the NFL, and assures himself a decent draft spot. If he puts up numbers like Ainge has the past two years I think he gets taken higher than the 5th round, (possibly 2nd-3rd round) based on his arm and size alone. He has all the physical tools they look for, now he just has to perform. But honestly asking a question like this is pretty ridiculous if you ask me....Besides Cromp is the type of guy who would want to stay that extra year anyway imo.

crompton would stay reguardless. hes so happy to be running things now that cutcliff is gone and if he were given the opportunity to go hed stay and run his value up again like arian did so he's be more complete and have a few more things mastered. assuming allot on this one but i say he's enjoyed learnign from clawson and wants to learn some more as well. he wont go till next year. maybe we can get a nc out of it and 2 great year sint he tenn history books

Maybe he can hire James Banks' agent- or Reshaun Fellows'

if we win the SEC this year I can handle Crompton going pro. We'll "cross next year's bridge" when we come to it.

he wont go pro. he could however play for the arena league . one of those teams would take him, but not NFL.

I'm not sure which is more premature, assuming Crompton will leave after his Junior year for the NFL or assuming that he'll end up in Arena ball.

This is the most ridiculous topic I have seen yet. However I believe it has come up due to withdrawls from being so far away from the last game played. Hopefully this kind of unimportant idea will go away on 9/01/08, FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE or Cali to be accurate....
