Crompton finds religion!

That is great for him to have found God, but hear all of you claim to be "religous" is funny, I seem to think that Jesus disliked "religion" a lot, but hey that is a totally different convo, I am a huge follower of Christ and not so much religion.

The distance between heaven and hell is 18 inches. that is the distance from the heart and the brain. If JC has peace in his heart and that gave him clarity to see and think clearly, great for him.

Amen. As a Christian myself I am always glad to hear that someone has accepted Jesus as their Savior.

God is good.

Oh, I thought you were talking about the amount of inches we needed to beat UCLA.

A buddy of mine teaches at Jeff. County. He is involved with FCA. Now, with JCHS being so close to Knoxville and one of the 2 or 3 largest high schools in the state (by population), we've often had athletes from UT show up and speak (Ace, Hall, etc.). So, Thursday night UT's Chaplain (didn't get a name) came and spoke to the club after the game. My buddy was just talking football with him after the small meeting and inevitabley the topic of Crompdaddy came up.

According to the gentleman, Crompton accepted God a few weeks ago. The man said that he and Cromp had been talking and that he had been praying for JC for a while (as he had obviously gone through some rough times). Well, last Saturday before the UGA game, the two shared a prayer. Apperantly, the Chaplain told JC that he really felt that God had some amazing things in store for him.

Lo-and-behold...

Looks like Tebow isn't the only QB with a divine edge! Well, the Lord wears Orange afterall!

The guy that called to tell me this is not someone who just throw THIS out there. He's a pretty strong Christian and was really looking to share something positive. He's also been my best friend for about 15 years. I'm not saying that this, in any way, explains a great game...just being a little light hearted. Take it for what you want...just thought I'd share some good news.

Go Vols!

You guys who are getting all offended over this need to let it go. The dude never said that accepting Christ = great football player... in fact he admitted that they was no connection. And as far as "separation of church and football," I firmly believe if you are a true follower of Christ then you are unable to separate your faith and the rest of you life (i.e. football, work, school, family life). It is all connected. Can't we just be happy for Crompton? I'd say there are a lot of folks on this board who can truly celebrate this. If you are not one of those people, I'll ask that you simply keep your comments to yourself. That fact that many of us take seriously our commitment to Christ should not in anyway be offensive to you. JMO.

It can help reduce performance anxiety to believe that while you should give all your effort, it does not define you whether you win or lose.

His spiritual change could explain an ability to relax and live up to the promise of his physical abilities.

This will be revisited if TN beats Alabama.

I thought Danny Wuerrfel cornered the good graces of Christ years ago. Now it seems God is playing favorites with QBs in the SEC. I remember one October Saturday he chose a righteous Steve Tanneyhill.

I guess the good Lord favors mullets and porn 'staches.

Congratulations to Crompton. When I was saved in January 2004, it changed my life. I finally started to under stand priorities and it has led me to being very happy where my life is headed. It has also taught me to be patient and good things will come.

Once again, very proud of Crompton.

I did notice a difference in his attitude after he threw the pick 6, this is where he is gonna show the difference of a changed heart. I didn't see him put his head and become anxious. That is the beauty of following Christ, your identity is with Him not your last pass, your job, or anything else we try to find identity. I'm glad JC has "found" Christ...

At least the man has bettered himself in some way in his experience at UT. Not only will he have a happy life, but now he will also have Jesus looking after him. Yay Crompton.

I am glad he gave his life to Jesus, but I sincerely doubt that the Lord cares one way or another who wins football games. Maybe it has allowed him to put things in perspective and thus allowed him to settle down. But, other than that, I don't believe He is helping Crompton make his progressions.

There is nothing more important than a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I hope to hear J. Crompton share his new found faith in Christ. As a high school baseball coach I am very competitive, but I do understand that winning a lot of high school baseball games will not get me into heaven. I will get into heaven only because my sins have been forgiven.

I don't think the point is really that Jesus helped us win, just more or less that his priorities may be in order now. I think it is very safe to say Jesus didn't help him make great passes, but he may have calmed his nerves and definitely helped his confidence or helped keep him calm. Always worked for me. When I saw him at the walk I thought good things may be ahead, I am happy for him. He deserves good things.

As a Christian, it absolutely does not explain a good game... perhaps a change in his mindset, but God's not going to start completing passes for him. As a Christian, I lost 29 out of 30 of my highschool games. I believe that 'splains it all.

Have you considered Hinduism?

Anytime someone gives their life to Christ even the Angels in Heaven celebrate. We should keep JC in our thoughts and prayers as he will struggle as a new Christian and encounter lots of ridicule.
Together we can make a difference. God Bless

-Either that or he had a "Come to Jesus moment" with Kiffin before the game.

-JC takes on JC

-Next he faces Satan in Tuscaloosa
