Crompton draftable?

He won't get drafted, but he'll get picked up by some team after the draft. Then, it's up to him to either make a team, or at least a pratice squad.
I know everyone wants to think he's ready for the league, since he's a Vol and he's finally playing well. But this guy is no better than a practice squad guy.

Crompton looks more draftable(?) than Snead right now for sure. There may be more upside to Crompton than Tebow. Sounds funny to say that, but he played well against the Best defense in all of college football.

I think he has a better up side than Tebow has for the NFL. Whether that warrants getting drafted, I agree with some of the other posts that it will depend on his combine and Senior Bowl results.

Tebow will be a hell of an H-Back:p

Crompton will be a big risk, but with Monte here to answer any GM's questions could be the deciding factor as to whether he gets drafted. Do you think that would help or hurt?

GO VOLS!!

sweet crusade you're starting

Since I didn't see the (sarcasm) there, I'll assume you're with me. I must admit that I'm suspicious, though...:hi:

Ever since we started playing well most of the trolls left, but we still have our attack dogs out, imo.

It helps that we have a NFL staff that knows many coaches/gms throughout the league. You know these guys talk, and I would bet Kiffin and Cheney will speak highly of Crompton. Especially his ability to play through adversity.

I don't think he will get drafted, i.e. why, Casey Clausen went undrafted his senior year.

He could help his chances a lot with a strong camp and high score on the Wonderlick test. IMO his scouting report will read slow to grasp new systems and defenses and accuracy problems (career %50 passing completion). Obviously he's improved a lot as the season has went on.

I love Jon Cromptondaddy but part of his success is Kiffin figuring out he can only read half the field and NFL QB's will have to see everything. He'll get a chance due to his physical tools but I don't see him getting drafted. I hope I'm wrong and Crompdaddy is all pro. He has a better shot than Casey Clausen because Clausen didn't have the arm to even be considered for the NFL but it's all about Crompton's ability to read defenses.

I think Lane has recognized Crompton's limitations and is effectively playing around them. I'm not certain he would be able to do that in the pros.

Crompton could play the "valuable experience in crisis management" card like Lane Kiffin during his UT interview.

I am not so sure they would want to put their good name behind a player without absolutely believing he can compete at the NFL level. If they are wrong about him, they lose credibility for players who *could* make it in the NFL.

I don't think he will be drafted even though he has looked dang good the past few games. I just can't get the UCLA game out of my head. I was sitting in section U with all the blue hairs and even they were cursing him.

Crompton is approximately 52x the physical specimen Clausen was. If somebody thinks he can develop the mental parts of the game, they might take a chance on him based solely on that.

He was looking off defenders against Memphis. Does this mean that the game is slowing down for him and allowing him to make reads? Or does it just mean that the play was designed with him looking one way, then coming back to his #1? I don't know.

it means there was no pressure to speak of.

What defenders?

The guy had a great game, and he has made almost unimaginable improvement. Make no mistake, though--I could have had a career receiving day against that coverage, and I'm 36.

And slow.

And lazy.

Well, you guys do have a point. Still...I think he is light years ahead of where he was just a couple of months ago.

On a side-note...

How on Earth do some of you guys have post counts up in the thousands or tens of thousands??? I feel like I am on this mofo an inordinate amount of time and I've been (what I thought was) a pretty prolific poster. Granted, I've only been posting here a few months, but VN has only been in existence for a few years, right?

Improvement has been meteoric, no doubt.

Takes special skill to be as prolific as some on here.
