Crompton and the VolNation Alarmist Response

I'm not attacking him personally,
But after last night, I'm positive he's the worst QB I've ever seen play in College.
He might be a great person, I've never met him, but when it comes to watching him play, I'd rather not.

I agree, he endured death threats last year which was inexicapable, so yeah I know this guys is even contemplating whether to go to the library even today...dayum I miss going to the library on sundays...

So he says.

Jacques McClendon and Vladimir Richard were getting OWNED yesterday.. It will almost be unwatchable to see what the Terrance Codys and Jeff Owens' of the world do to those wannabe's

Call it pride, hubris, or whatever - perhaps the staff thought that last year was an aberration (complicated offensive schemes, coaches, etc) and that they could change him. He humbled them yesterday.

We don't currently have one.
no.. all this makes me dislike filmer even more.. crompton can't do anything about it.. he won the job and got the nod.. kiffin is stuck with no sec caliber qb's and "a 2 year recruiting gap in the OL" (as he said on Vol Calls)... we are what we are thanks to foulmer..

we're really going to have to be patient.. not easy sometimes..

Crompton deserved to be booed yesterday, he played horrible and lost us the game. he and only he can be blamed for this loss. The crowd was rocking with a Crompton chant when he needed it but when he sucks that bad and blows a game we should of won, he deserved it.

One of the Clausen's (I think) fumbled the snap against FLA 4 or 5 times in a row, a few years back. I thought that was the worst QB play I had ever seen at Tennessee. Then along came the Crompton.

Yeah, the OL had nothing at all to do with it. Crompton deserves some of the blame, but not ALL of it...

I am as big a Vol fan as the next. Being a fan doesn't mean you have to like how we played. Why should a rational person be content with the mistakes we made on offense yesterday? There was little pressure placed on the QB, and he overthrew and misread too many times. I think we can come back, play the SEC fairly well (with a better running attack), and begin this rebuilding we don't like to discuss that we're in. I still hold optimism for a decent season as we all should, but just remember this: You can't polish a turd into a diamond, no matter how hard you try.

So Johnathon Crompton isn't the greatest QB to ever grace the Orange and White. No arguments. He's not Peyton Manning. He's not Eric Ainge. He's not Casey Clausen. Hell, he's not Rick Clausen. But he's our QB and the fact he gets boo'ed in his home, in our home, is deplorable. You don't crap on someone when they're down, especially if he's your own. When Crompton starts to slump, Neyland needs to scream. We, the crowd, need to lift him up. We need to become 100,000 motivators. He needs to know that whether he goes down the field for 90 yard drive or 4-and-out that the crowd is with him regardless. He's ours. He needs fan support not fan disapproval. Keep Neyland screaming and keep Johnathon's head in the game.

And a second note...

What's with the "oh, it's over" attitude? It's one game. One Non-Conference game. What kind of season did you think we would roll through after going 5-7? Were the Vols suppost to make a run at the National Title? Everyone hopes so. I'm not gonna deny it. We want it. We deserve it. It's not going to come to the University without fan support. So stop denegrating your QB. Stop rolling over and giving Florida the win. That game is as winable as any other on our schedule. The Florida Gators aren't invincible. Motivation and focus. It's life's secret formula.

Don't roll over, VolNation. Do your part for the Vols success.

Drop dead. Crompton is trash and got treated exactly as he should have been yesterday.

I agree. The real problem I have with Crompton is his complete inability to take ownership of his play.

After yesterday's performance, his postgame comments should have been something to the effect of "I played very poorly, I let my teammates down, and I am determined to get better and make fewer mistakes."

Instead, we got the same old BS. "We've got to play better as a team, practice harder..."

He has never once owned up to playing poorly. What's worse, yesterday he looked like someone who had no idea what plays were being run. I believe the main problem is between the ears.

P.S. I personally don't boo. But if you can't take a few boo-birds when you play crappy, then you probably can't take the pressure of playing in a place like the Swamp, and I don't want you playing QB for our team.

I don't consider the ucla game the end. I also don't believe that JC can compete on this level. He might be a fantastic human being, full of vigor and humanity, but he is not "our" quarterback. "Our" quarterback plays at Utc because no QB recruit will come to tennessee if a freshman starts for UT. Groing pains suck and loosing sucks, but Kiffin can recruit. That is where we are. GO VOLS!!!!!!!

Agreed. He's a big boy.

Watch any NFL quarterback after they have a bad game and they are humble. They know they played bad and they can admit to it. This guy.... wow. According to him, nothing is his fault.

I hope he is doing well in classes because there is no way in hell he's playing in the NFL.

He is majoring in Sports Psychology :)

If I was a lineman on the team come next week I would step aside and let Crompton get his bell rung and hope that he gets injured for the season. Crompton is the poorest excuse for a QB that I have seen and I have nothing but bitterness for him. Nothing is EVER his fault he always has a person to blame instead of looking in the mirror.

Judging from last night, they will not have to intentionally try to let the DL get through.

I personally feel that I have the right to boo a player who is solely responsible for yesterday's loss. His demeanor on and off the field is appalling. He had to be told to fire up the offense and his post game comments were intolerable. He is not a leader and he is not a SEC caliber qb. I would be ok if he would accept responsibility for his bad play and apologize to his teammates, coaches, and fans. I spent almost $800 for the weekend to support my team. All I see is some kid who walks around with a blank look on his face. He hurt the team yesterday and hurts future teams with his poor play. Recruits will look negatively on this game. He still stares down receivers and can't handle a snap. Why should we cheer for him. I hope the staff realizes he is as good as he will ever be and let the guy carry a clipboard for the rest of his career. Play a guy who has at least has room to improve. I really don't think Crompton's play had anyting to do with fans booing. I hope recruits know we expect to be the best and if you can't handle that, sit on the bench and don't cost your teammates who are giving everything the victory.
