Does anyone think he feels MORE pressure at home because of how the fans have reacted in the past?
I think that is a big thing for him. Afraid he will make a bad throw and the boos will start coming therfore he tries harder and makes mistakes.
I dont have any stats at home vesus away games but would be interesting to see those if anyone wants to look it up.
Just a thought. Feel free to bash if need be

Well, in that respect, if he DOES mess up, he can listen to cheering instead of booing. I guess that's a plus?

No need to bash. There is enough of that already. What more can we say about Crompton? It is what it is. Here is a question for all the bashers; what if that was your kid everyone was threatning, insulting, ect. Yeah I will admit I've said some critical things but I started to look at it from a parental view point. I have a ten year old son and I wouldn't want him to be treated that way.

There's probably no one on your team that wants to win as badly as Crompton. I think it's fair to compare him to Willie Korn of Clemson. They were studs in high school but somehow struggling in the college ranks. Why aren't isn't Nick Stephens going to play?

Im by no means bashing crompton or the vols period! I will never. I just think thats something that messes with his head as much as anything

I have a question about quarterback mechanics that someone here may be able to answer. I don't think I've ever seen a quarterback take a large hop at the end of their drop like Crompton does. Wouldn't that large hop throw off the timing of the route? At the very least, I would think it would alert the DB's to the depth of the routes so they could jump them.

No way have I or would I bash Crompton. He wants to do well....it is just not happening. He does not deserve the harsh treatment he has been given. It is fine to be critical....but the way the kid has been threatened, etc is just terrible. I really hope for the Vol fans...and Crompton that he can put it together. Kiffin supports him and so will I.

Man i hate to but i have to agree.. Crompton wants to win he just needs to have fun and he will accomplish that

Lol I see now how it would appear if I thought you were. I was referring to your comment of someone bashing you when I said no need to bash.

My first reaction was to throw Stephens in after last week, but why ruin the only other QB that knows the system. If Crompton plays well, it will be a great game. If Crompton is in the tank, you don't ruin the Stephens' confidence and you have a QB that the team can get behind for the rest of the year.

I agree, he wants to win. The only problem, the will to win can put you behind the wheel but if you can't drive, it doesn't take long before you run into a bridge embankment.

I don't want to pile on Crompton, so that's not what this post is about.

I really wonder if Crompton understands that this is probably his make or break game. Every expert who has scouted him says he has all of the physical skills to get the job done. The fact that he has his bachelors degree, irregardless of his major, tells me that he is not an idiot who is mentally incapable of understanding a playbook. If my assumptions are correct, then it kind of limits the possible reason(s) for his performance. Can he summon whatever it takes to go out there and execute a gameplan against a good defense? I think he probably has it in him, but I have to see him do it before I can answer that question in the affirmative. The Vols don't even have to win this game. If JC can just go out there and play up to his potential for one day then I think he earns the vote of confidence from the staff and the fans that he needs to carry him through the rest of the season. If he does not and instead shows us a repeat of last week's performance, I think he rides the pine the rest of the season and is relegated to a place in Vol football history where he probably does not want to be. I hope he does it.

Maybe he isn't being coach well.. I know he couldn't have been coached very well last year with the Clawfense circus in town... Plus I don't remember to many USCe QBs that lit it up either..

Under Kiffin and Cheney...

Drew Brees
Carson Palmer
Matt Leinart

Between the 2 of them, I think they have seen what works and what doesn't with QB's...

Not to mention...Crompton has seen many coaches who all got jobs elsewhere...it's not the coaching...face it people, this kid doesn't have it. It's too late for him, even if he finishes the season mediocre at best, his career is tarnished.

Cromp is the man just had a bad game last week! okay maybe not but i think he will be alright the rest of the year.

I just feel bad for the guy. Even though I've gotten mad at him and yelled stuff, it's not his fault the previous staff couldn't recruit someone better. The kid loves Tennessee and it's unfortunate he'll likely end his career hated by many fans. Imagine how bad Jim Bob Cooter, Burney Veazey, or CJ Leak would have been if they were the best we had.

I think in all fairness to Crompton, those QB's were GREAT college QB's...but they did not have to go through as many offensive system changes as Crompton did. He came in to a difficult situation of being force fed a new offense after Cutcliffe left.
