Crews started off hot, started, cooled off a little, 2nd string, but he's getting better. Overall, I think Crews' mid-range game is the most needy. We've all seen him down low, grabbin' rebounds and putting in layups/dunks, but he is 6'7. Being a 6'7 center will really limit his potential and I think his mid range shooting and ball handling will have to improve to make a sufficient PF. He does have episodes of brilliance though (like that hook shot over Glen Davis: you just dont see moves like that from freshmen very often.
Chism started off a little slow, and then got really hot, and has been consistent (other than the SC game). He can hit the 3, and he gets himself in great position defensively. We saw signs of it in the Vandy game, but Chism needs to learn to take over a game. He is solid in every area. He has surprisingly good ball handling ability, he has great offensive and defensive awareness, he can post up well, and his basketball iq is off the charts for a freshman.
Next year I think that BP's system will fit these guys perfectly. Their styles of play are pretty much opposite, but that makes for great chemistry. Crews is extremely athletic and if he can develop his midrange game he might be incredible, and Chism will only get better with experience. Both these guys have a bright future at UT.
That said... Which one do you think is better and which one has more upside?
