Ah yes, a carload of young people trying to choose between two restaurants and deciding based on the logo?
Take it from someone who has worked, managed, and owned food/bev concepts, and did consultation contracting for three years, that sort of stuff absolutely matters. Falls under atmosphere which is a vital component of a successful concept.
A huge part of turning around the last bar I bought was literally replacing the ****** sign that blended into the backdrop of Gay Street. We had 8 competing bars in a 2 block stretch and the jet black sign with blue and pink neon lighting I put up there just happened to coincide with the best positive 3 month swing the place had in 2 years of being open at that point.
