Agreed. No disrespect to the Vikings organization, but their QB situation has been a hot mess for a while. I'm obviously not privy to insider information. I don't know how much of an effort was made to get him involved. The staff while he was here didn't do him any favors. At some point you have to become a student, and not get by off of physical gifts.

Just being a one trick pony in the NFL won't work anymore. With the new kickoff rules, specialists are having to prove their worth as a WR or DB now too. Guy is fast as anyone in the league, but he's a mediocre receiver.

By all accounts, the issue for CP is his inability and/or unwillingness to learn the playbook and work on his craft/route-running. He's not a professional willing to do what he needs to do to utilize all that amazing talent, and the Vikings are now willing to cut ties and move on from him.

Most teams aren't going to waste a roster spot on a KR who can't run a drag route to save his life. This isn't 2006

You're throwing around a lot of absolutes. So many great players to step foot in Neyland. That's like a Seminole fan saying Peyer Warrick is thei favorite player of all time, when they had so many great ones. But your opinion is your opinion.

When did I mention absolutes? It's highly regarded that CP was one of the most dynamic individuals to ever play for UT, even if it was only one year. Don't believe me? Go watch his highlights again then maybe you'll reconsider. But you're right, to each his own.

I never said he was the greatest player, just that he was electric and fun to watch, which many of us enjoyed.

Maybe he's a young fan? If I had been following the Vols for say 5-6 years, then CP would definitely fall into the WOW category. Ain't seen a raw playmaker better during the period.

It's easy to forget that to a young person Carl Pickens, Peerless Price, and/or Condredge Holloway may as well have been members of the 1951 National Championship team. Everyone has a starting point. And everything before that is just a history lesson.

Just sayin'.

While I may be in my early 30's, I actually remember quite well watching the Vols win a NC in '98. I can definitely remember Price and before him Marcus Nash. I do remember Pickens from game replays, although I will admit I wasn't quite 10 years old when he was drafted so I don't remember watching him live.

I'm not sure it's a route running issue. I think he can't read defenses and adjust his route when he needs to.
