Poor Skull candy users:
The Secret Scam of Cheap Earbuds

I remember watching a Bloomberg program about the company and the entire focus was on the organization and marketing of the product, there was not one second devoted to R&D. Read the article and you'll understand why.

I know beats by dre are overpriced and overrated, but I am always tempted to buy the orange ones. I know better though

I have a $15 pair of Sony earbuds from Wal-Mart that are really good. I used to have a $35 pair of Sony's that were similar, but had a little bit better sound quality, but I broke them and haven't seen them at Wal-Mart.

Shure. Although I am partial to my Audio Technicas.

That's what I've been sporting for the past 3 years. They were less than $100 on Amazon. Comes with a nice hard case, cord adaptors for different size jacks including airplane, and the cord pops out of the headphones so if it ever does get a short it is replaceable. Noise cancellation is great. I mow the yard with them and can't hear the mower.

I'm in the market for some ear buds that I can wear when I go to bed without hurting my ear. Something the fits in the ear deeper than the standard issue apple ear buds. Monoprice seems to have some that are similar to skull candy buds, at a fraction of the cost. Anyone have any experience with them?

I used to have Skull Candy Titans, but misplaced them on vacation this summer. I have since bought Yurbuds Ironman series, and I like them MUCH better. The design is awesome -- they twist and lock in place. Very comfortable and they won't budge. I use them for running, but I'm sure they'd work great for bedtime too. They are designed to allow a little sound in (for safety), and that might be good for nighttime use, as well.

Will definitely check them out. Thanks, doc.

i went ahead and ordered these; For only $6.07 each when QTY 50+ purchased - Hi-Fi Premium Noise Isolating Earphones - Black & Red | EarPhones

ran about 4 hours worth of pink noise through them (they suggested 24 but i am super impatient) and am just now listening to them for the first time. I gotta say, these things have exceeded my expectations. I've used my fiances skull candy buds a few times, but didn't want to splurge on something that expensive... glad i bought these (i think it ended up being $8 with shipping), they sound just as good as the skulls.

I have been very pleased by the lower-end Sennheiser headphones, as well as very pleasantly surprised by my $17 NoiseHush earbuds (and I laugh every time ppl ask how I like my Beats earbuds). If you want the Beats sound, mess with your equalizer. If you want a good sound experience, find some headphones/earbuds that transmit a high quality sound. Once you do that, you can always improve the noise cancellation and leakage by replacing the earbud covers with squishable foam earplugs (I found a demo at <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0m_RseMrok>).

If you are a true audiophile, you may require something really expensive; but if you are just looking for affordable quality, stay away from the 'popular' choice, as they are mostly marketing.
