Cowherd on Fulmer

How many SEC loses does UGA have in a row now? 5? And they are perceieved as "on the rise"?

Don't know for sure and I really don't care. They are on the rise because Stafford showed a glimpse of what he could do against Okie State.

A team that won a NC in 98 can't be considered on the rise until they win one again, or at least win the SEC East more than once every 3-4 years. This is just my opinion on the subject.

Syracuse:
Donovan McNabb
Keith Bulluck
Dwight Freeney
Kevin Johnson
Rob Konrad

I basically agree with your premise hatvol, but you set yourself up for it.
1. How much did Freeney play as freshman?
2. Calling Rob Konrad and Kevin Johnson quality NFL players is stretching the definition to the snapping point. If you want to know whatmost people in the NFL though about Kevin Johnson, check out the exerpts of John Feinstein's book "Next Man Up" where the Ravens are debating Johnson's skills or lack thereof.

i don't even think it takes all that. last year up until the LSU game, we were "on the rise".

one thing that would go a long way in my book is to be undefeated coming out of September more than 1 time every 3 years. We controlled our own destiny in the SECE in 92, 98, 01 and 04. Every other year, we had to rely on someone losing, twice, to have a shot. that's only worked out 1 time, 97.

BS

If they are so tight, MH wouldn't be bringing up how it's unacceptable to go 10 years on the hill without an SEC title. Fulmer's in hot water people.
I certainly hope you're right because I want him gone!

Nevermind the fact that you were wrong.
Where was I wrong? Arkansas and Mississippi State both fall far short of the standard I mentioned and you guys are trying to use the likes of Rob Konrad to puff Syracuse.

Was Freeney even at Syracuse in 1998? I thought he just came into the NFL in 2002 or 2003...

You just can't admit you were wrong. That's OK, didn't expect it.

I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong. However, when someone tells me that a guy with no NFL catches was a quality NFL player, I see no reason to grant I was mistaken.

It appears to be somewhere between zero and 1. I must have been thinking of someone else. Remove him from the list.
Removing him form the list leaves you with a mediocre player and your speculation as to the quality of Burlsworth as your 3 quality NFL players from the 1998 Arkansas team. Great job.

You asked for three players from Syracuse. You got more. You were wrong. No big deal. Not the first time, not the last.

Yeah, can't believe I missed Freeney. He had 3 whole tackles that season.

His prediction of an SEC East title last year was also good.

yeah, it goes hand and hand. He was telling us that Phil Fulmer will bring us back to the promised land of an SEC East title. Oh but we know he will hat. in 2013 after UM and Saban have ridden off into the sunset

Jake, I think that's the reaction many reasonable, forgiving fans such as yourself have had. I am not as reasonable or forgiving and started reacting like this a long time ago. I felt dreadfully exposed in the coaching realm many times, esp. after the 2001 SEC CG, the two Peach Bowl blowouts against ACC teams (you can understand that one), the AF squeaker last seasons, and the Vandy and SC losses in 2005. The only times I've felt insufficient in the talent standpoint were Nebraska in 1997, Arkansas last year and Florida this year.

While I agree with most of your post, I don't agree with your Nebraska comment. Nebraska was a perfect example of a bunch of 3-star propects given an opportunity to be stars in a system that was schematically simplistic in nature yet had dynamic results. Out of their skill position starters that year, only one of them could have started for UT and that was the fullback.
