Wow, the excuses are just amazing. Gotta say, this fan base has been conditioned to drink the Kool Aid.

The past two years' offensive lines have been absolutely pathetic. it's not because the running backs were mediocre, it's not because there was no RB coach, it's not because there wasn't talent. Wake up.

Sometimes the answer is a simple one. Namely, the coaching and scheme was horrible for the personnel UT has. Part of being a good coach is knowing when to alter your philosophy to fit your personnel.

I couldn't agree more. I actually think I've heard Dooley say the same thing.

How did I miss the point? I was simply responding to your statement that we put too much stock in what Clifton says by explaining why a lot of us do. I don't see how you couldn't have deduced that from what I wrote.

I wonder if the folks in this thread would argue with Bobby Valentine about baseball. It is embarassing that our fanbase has such spoiled ignorance seeking to condescend from below.

There is 1 person in this thread with more experience and knowledge regarding the OL than everyone else. There are also a bunch of children who say their piece. It is like watching chihuahas circling a wolf for a dog fight.

Arian Foster disagrees. He's perfect for that zone blocking scheme that Houston runs. He shredded the Falcons good run D on Sunday.

I wasn't suggesting Chad Clifton doesn't know what he's talking about. I'm suggesting that he's not going to come out and openly bash Tennessee coaches no matter what he thinks about them. That's how you missed the point.

More complete, and utter trash. No one is suggesting they know more than Chad Clifton. Simply more lies and mischaracterizations of what people say.

Not asking for domination - just be halfway decent. And to the 'well, they pass blocked well and maybe it's just too hard on them to learn how to run block since they are so young' crowd (including Haslam) - what planet are you guys living on? Football has been pass and run block for how long? You don't send different lines in when you do one or the other - it's the job.

When they fired out they would whiff a bunch of the time. So they leaned on them and tried to shield the running lanes. But the scheme had the RB so deep and delayed in getting the ball the gap/crease was closed by the time our mediocre backs got there. Somehow HH has 9 months to teach this bunch how to run block to SEC standards. Hopefully a new RB coach can teach the RB's how to run to daylight starting about 2 yards closer to the line of scrimmage. Good luck with that with this bunch.

And while they are at it try practicing at a reasonable hour of the day for a kids that age.

So cars offensive line was young two years ago-maybe three. Bama plugs in a frosh and he's all sec.

We have talent. It's coaching. Harry h is not good.

Chaney to QB's coach is a good move IMO, though it won't be much of a change. Chaney was very actively involved with the QB's during individual workouts anyway.

As far as Hinshaw goes, God help us when it comes to keeping Da'Rick in line. According to a friend of mine who is on the staff, Hinshaw was walked all over by the quarterbacks this past season.

The Oline wasnt ready to run the ball like they tried to mid way through the season. I bet in spring ball they hit the SLED, ALOT. Gotta get to the point of attack and beat your man. Thats all it is fellas. HH can teach Technique all day long, but if the Tackle or Guard doesnt implement what hes been taught or just gets man handled, then people want to say its the coach. And yes, he is one of the best Oline coaches in the game.
Hes taught along time and produced some GREAT olines. And when he was in Chicago, he had to deal with a change in scheme and injuries destroyed the bears.

Then you must be REALLY young. because this group could flat out pass protect. They lacked in the run game, but you can't be 'the worst' and be able to protect the QB as well as they did this year.

Tennessee: We have been told that quarterbacks coach Darin Hinshaw has been moved to wide receivers. Jim Chaney will coach the quarterbacks going forward. Running backs is currently open.

A former TN OL who is making a living in the NFL, comes on here and tries to educate some fans on the OL woes of the past season and fans on here can't comprehend it or discard it and seek their own agenda about the problem. It should be obvious there is no hope for some of the posters on here who toot their own horn when they are clueless about football.

You may be right in that he wouldn't openly bash a UT coach, but do you think that he would lie and openly endorse HH if he didn't think he was capable?

From what I've read, Chad really likes HH and believes he's a top notch coach.

IMO, that's not accurate. I think most people, with any reasoning ability, understand that Dooley needs a minimum of two more years to prove whether he has "it" or not. If Dooley wins 4 games next year he will have as many people calling for his firing as were calling for Fulmer's firing. You know that. Don't let your hatred for Dooley get on the way of realizing where the program is at right now.
