We disagree but I think fast action by Hart can save Harts job and boost his stature. If he lets this drag out then yes he needs to go.

This is blatant speculation, but maybe the kid's manhood was challenged by Butch beyond his ability to handle it. Maybe he was embarrassed, his buttons may have been pushed so far that maybe he reacted by shoving Butch to the ground. Culpability on both sides of the equation, thus a cooling off period for both parties. To me, that could only happen if Butch made it personal. Some players side with Crowder, others with Butch. Team dissension ensues. Inept performances, all kinds of crazy.

One issue Butch might have is that he doesn't understand that every player has a different tolerance level to "hard" coaching. You can ride some players all day, every day and it only makes them better. Others are more sensitive and you have to know when to push and when to back off. Good coaches understand this.

I get the feeling that he never backs off and it is counterproductive with a lot of players.

10 Volnation bucks says these rumors stay a float unless we win Saturday. If we lose Saturday, by Monday this is full blown... We win Saturday and it dies down. I think Butch was given an ultimatum. Win or your gone.

I'd also wager this is being leveraged by some of the big boosters and Hart knows it. Hence he's keeping his mouth shut.

Not really. No one can argue CBJ has been a colossal failure as HC at TN. He has recruited as one of the very best in the business. He has greatly improved the program. If he were to be fired today he would be the only coach since 1992 that has left the program in better shape than it was when he arrived. That is a fact no can can dispute , unless you count Chaney's one game as HC.

Great post. If Hart has to fire Butch because of cause I think how he handles it and how quickly he handles it will go a long way determining if he gets a chance to make the next Football hire. I'm not a Hart fan and don't trust him at all. In a perfect world Hart gets shown the door and we bring in an AD with some integrity and the ability to make good coaching hires. This situation has potential to spiral down quickly and just add another black eye. Upside is the next coach would come in with a lot of young talent and potential which should make it more appealing than when we hired Dooley and Butch. I would bet more coach's would strongly consider us than we had during the last few hires. The talent is here,we just need the right guy running it!

This is my problem with the way this is being reported. These are serious allegations. Yet, they are being reported in a way that leaves a lot to speculation.

If he prefaced it with the fact that he had confirmation from 5 people who can verify that I have had some sort of physical relationship with the woman in question, but can't verify exactly how far that physical relationship has gone exactly, I've got no problem with it.

That's the subtle difference you fail to grasp.

No, if we lose Saturday, Swain will be reporting that Butch murdered three players and their bodies have still not been found.

5-6 witnesses? Where is the rest of the team, staff and so on?
Why is it just now coming out? Because we lost to Arkansas, Florida and Oklahoma?
I wish I had a dollar for every time a coach grabbed me by the face mask or jersey.

Swain made a point, and I agree, that if we were 5-0 this would not be a big deal, it might get mentioned but it would go away. If memory serves it was mentioned and did go away until we started losing.

I think what this is about is that even if only partly true, the ugly feeling that is growing is the fear that Butch is losing the team, deserved or not.

If that is the case and he doesn't fix it quickly he is toast, doesn't matter if the facts bear out the rumor or not. This is where I am, if he can't hold the team together then he isn't the right guy for the job. We may see some ugly internal differences within the team start to play out. That's when Hart may have to get involved.

Never claimed CBJ was, Hart would be if he had to fire CBJ for cause.

This does have Fulmer written all over it. You may be on to something. The meeting with him and Majors has been speculated to move him into the AD before this rumor started.
