Couple of crazy rumors floating around...

Here's a thought: it would be nice if ONE PERSON that was there firsthand (or even as a family member) put their name and reputation on the line and said plainly that "IT DID NOT HAPPEN." Enough with the wordplay.

The guessing game does nothing but fuel the fire.

I suspect that sooner than later something more concrete will come to light simply based upon the fact that in its current state this situation is quite embarrassing for the program to say the least. That said I do not have much confidence in Hart or the University Administration.

Once again, I think there's more to be said for Swain, who is very connected with the program to allow Stokes to ask the question. Perhaps this forum refreshed his mind to ask some questions. In my opinion only, I think something happened. The question is whether it was just a one time frustration deal between the player and coach or if it had been building up.

Usually means "support, back up, lend force to, confirm, justify, vindicate". Most use these meanings.

Ok let's plug any of those words in instead of confirm......still sounds the same to me......bad. Doesn't matter what word you use........anything other than "it never happened" is basically leaving to much room for everyone to assume it did.

OK, go vote for Bernie. It's ok to run Butch through the mud but when I ask for those in the Crowder camp to put up or shut up, I'm in the wrong. Sorry you can't see your double standard.

Why should they? Put yourself in their position. They likely didn't leak this information, most likely. Also, what is Mack supposed to do? Give this information out during the middle of a dumpster fire season and risk losing playing time, possibly alienation from the team, etc.? If his father says something, then it becomes an entirely bigger ordeal. I think the Crowder family, Hart and the coach need to figure it out and do it fast, if something did happen.

Point is: this thing has gotten out of hand, and you can't just ignore it and hope it goes away. "No comment, ridiculous, ...." isn't going to cut it.

I have to agree. Whatever the situation, at this point I have no faith in this staff beyond recruiting. Even that will be iffy if this season continues on it's current path.

I'm not gonna take a posters word as "100%, that's all the info I need" so no, it's like you want this to be true. Again, press the charges or gtfo. It's beggininng to look like an attention grab

Ok, we get it! You don't believe it. Since you've said the same thing over and over there is no way anyone missed it. But again it's your opinion, please don't try to speak for me because in my opinion Steeler has every right to or not to say the first freaking thing. He doesn't owe you or this forum the first thing.

Weren't you the one adamantly defending Trae Golden?

I agree with Tennesseefan, it's only a matter of time this hits national media and Verne will probably mention it during the game broadcast Saturday knowing our luck. Butch gave an irritated political answer and Crowders dad sure didn't shut it down- something obviously happened. I am hoping Eazy's post will come true and Hart will be out. No matter what happens with this punch story, I would feel much better knowing Hart won't be making decisions for the future.

Swain is catching hell on Facebook. He told everyone that he is not going to sugar coat anything. He reports both positive and negative things.

Wasn't referring to your inquiries, I was referring to your use of inflammatory curse words and distasteful phrases that's all - no more no less - I even directed you to a number of steelervol's comments.

And I do not believe that the Crowder's have been in this thread pushing it along.

I wish Jones would have simply denied that the incident occurred as in "that is entirely false" or "that did not happen" or "your source is wrong, no altercation occurred" but he chose his words differently.

The only thing that I have seen on this board from the Crowder's is from a tweet that says no comment - we do not want to substantiate internet rumors.

Exactly. The current coach did not help matters by not giving a definitive answer. Crowder's dad didn't help, either. By Wednesday, something needs to be resolved. It's not the fans that need addressing, but as soon as this story hits ESPN, Fox, etc., it will take off faster than it already has. I don't think it is the Crowder family's place, because they likely didn't leak this. Hart needs to do something to put the fire out.

I agree. The UTAD needs to issue a statement. Once that is done, the line is drawn. Nothing else is said? Rumor squashed. Legal action/investigation called for by the supposed victim? Trouble for the coaching staff and AD.

Something has to give.

So at least we agree that the Crowder camp is egging it along.

I dont think either minded if it stayed put during the season but now that its out there neither want to end it.

His response to the question was "absolutely ridiculous". That's not JUST saying "no, it didn't happen", that's going beyond it and saying that "it's ridiculous that the question is even being asked".

This thread is pathetic at best. It's fueled by people hoping to find a reason to fire Butch. He has literally no history of violence and he sure as hell isn't starting one just because he became a coach at UT.

I openly admit I hope we find a reason to fire Butch

It needs to end. For the good or bad or nothing.

No we dont agree on that at all - I never said that. Neither "side" has "explicitly" denied that an altercation of any kind occurred between the two. I believe that is a fair and reasonable analysis of what has occurred to this point.

And not that it is any of your business or concern but I am no Bernie fan actually quite the opposite.

Perhaps. Technically, maybe he just thought it was "absolutely ridiculous" that it was being asked on that platform. He gave himself some wiggle room. It didn't help matters that his face turned so red that he almost combusted. Something as simple as, "That's a false allegation. I treat my players with respect and through thick and thin, I would never resort to something like that. In fact, we'll let Mack release a statement as well, if he wants."
