I don't either. I pray this is not true. I lost my cool yesterday on here bc I know this is not we need now. I thought people were acting like teenage girls. I was so pissed I actually said I'm gone for good (meaning this thread). I apologize for that..I never result to name calling. I just hate that SOME people on here use this thread to reiterate their hate for the coach.

This story is such a big deal. I just want to hear what people know or think they know...not a platform to push their case.

Edit....for the record I still choose to believe this "incident" is probably not as bad as it seems to be. Hope I'm not wrong on that. But am now concerned about player's thoughts on CBJ after reading on here. That definitely seems to be an issue.

If this rumor is true (and it is starting to get legs it seems), then the university would be negligent not to cut bait.

The university turning a blind eye on a player assault would be a bigger black eye to public perception, and recruiting.

Hell OSU fired a coach that won 5 national titles and 13 conference titles for punching a player (granted it was an opposing player...). There are lines that just cant be crossed and that's one of them.

Cmon man...Woody Hayes punched an opposing player on national TV...not even in the same universe as what is being rumored.

If some of you are under the impression that football coaches aren't allowed to touch the players and if they do it is grounds for dismissal, then you've never played football or any other highly competitive sport for that matter. I can't count the number of times a coach slapped me upside the helmet or grabbed me by the facemask while giving me heated verbal correction.

Its a violent contact sport and the players are not a bunch of pansies. I had a past coach who demonstrated form tackling without wearing any pads and he would hit you like a freight train....

Slapping a player on the helmet or grabbing a facemask is not even in the same realm as the allegations presented. Purposely punching a player in the gut because you can't control your temper is unprofessional and uncalled for in any sport, PERIOD! We all know these players are tough, you have to be to play football in the SEC or any conference for that matter. Belittling players or physically assaulting them is grounds for dismissal. What if the coach punched your son out of sheer anger or to be embarrass them?

Football players consent to certain types of potentially injurious physical contact when they decide to play football. They do not agree to be punched in the gut by their coach for demonstration purposes. I think what Butch was really trying to demonstrate is his complete domination over his players and their complete submissiveness.

Our program has been on that trajectory over the last decade. Two top 5 recruiting classes and no on-field results hasn't changed that trajectory.
