I saw on Fox News last night the husband was toting a gun into the courthouse where she works -- isnt that against the law also ? And really I thought those ACs were against violence --- just another fake religion I guess

Which one, hasn't she been married four times?

Sanctity of marriage don't ya know?

"Who cares if gay people get married....it isn't like God is letting them into heaven"

-Daniel Tosh

Name one place in the Bible that says gay people can not go to heaven.

It says homosexuality is an abomination. It does not say a homosexual can not be saved.

She's not brave, she's a coward. Bravery would be stepping down from your cushy 80k/year job because of your personal religious objections that keep you from honoring the 1st amendment as a representative of the government. That would be bravery, and conviction.

This is taking the easy, emotional, "look at me I'm a victim" route. Instead of being allowed to leave whenever she changes her mind, they ought to be adding a year every time she's called back into court and refuses to neither step down or comply.

Yeah, I have to agree with this.

It is a satirical joke from a comedian and it's funny because of the perspective it presents. Not whether or not it is factual...cause it is a joke.

I was always under the impression that a legal marriage license (that you have to pay for, no less) that is provided to you by your government has literally nothing to do with deities or your religious convictions. You are married in the eyes of the government.

I thought religious ceremonies were what made you married "in the eyes of God" or whatever.

Does this lady think County Clerks are arbiters for God's will or something?

She certainly seems to think she can interpret God's will because she stated she is fine with divorce because it is "between those people and God", but gay marriage is a no go.

I am reasonably sure that is blasphemous

My final thought is that this woman is either just stone christian crazy or out to paid. And trust me, she will never have to work another day in her life because the religious zealots will put her on a cross country tour where they reap some seed money and talk about how brave she is.

You are more cynical than I am... but probably 110% correct.

I concur.

I agree, but I would also like to play Devil's advocate. Instead of her going to jail for something this trivial, why not just fire her? Why tie up the court system and waste taxpayer money by her going back and forth to court over a matter that the state doesn't belong in anyways?

To make an example out of her, that's the way the left operates.

Apparently since she is an elected official she can not simply be fired. It has to happen at the next regular election, have an expensive special election, or go through the drawn out process of having her removed.

Correct, even the governor cannot remove her.

The legislature would have to impeach her and they aren't in session currently

....or if the people weren't just looking for a confrontation, they could go to another county and get a marriage license.

And she isn't looking for confrontation?

She could have opted out of this at any time by resigning and she has chosen not to.

She is breaking the law willfully, doing interviews over her stance, living up her 5 minutes of fame.
