Is that what visiting locker rooms look like today? Or was that what our home locker room looked like in Peyton's day?

I'm going to countdown players #'s from here to #1. Not necessarily the best player to wear that number, but someone that was instrumental to the success of Tennessee football. Hope y'all enjoy. Should be fun!

Why would you have to give up either? You go to 9 conference games. Expand playoffs to 8 teams. Bigger tv revenue. Problem solved.
The math unfortunately doesn't work out that way for the SEC. That would mean 7 more SEC team losses, most likely for the bottom 7 teams in the league, which typically means 2 or 3 fewer SEC teams in bowl games, hence less bowl revenue.
While expanding to 8 playoff teams would almost assure 2 SEC teams in them, rules would probably prohibit 3 teams, and expanded playoffs probably take the next 4 highest bowls taking 8 teams out of those in the present format. The SEC typically would get 2 teams into those next 4 (assuming we don't have 2 in the playoff) so we'd end up losing a third school from a premier game (SEC would get paid, but the third school would not)

To be fair we got screwed by the refs. LSU substituted and we ran players on but refs didn’t give us the time for the substitutions as required.
And they had more than 2 players in motion when the ball was snapped.... I was at the game

To solve the SEC's football schedule problems, either go to a 6-plus-fully-rotating-two or whole-conference-no-divisions with a fully rotating 8-game schedule, pairing the two teams with the best records in the CCG. In the 6+2 divisions schedule, annual rivalries could be kept by pairs using one of the remaining four games to play each other in those years when the SEC doesn't schedule them. Georgia-Auburn and Bama-Tennessee would likely elect to do this.

From 1979-1981 and 1983, Mark Studaway, was a solid piece to a defensive front with Reggie White and Mike Cofer. Studaway, #98, finished his career with 78 total tackles and 4 sacks. Battling knee injuries, Studaway was never a star, but was good enough to be a 4th round pick by the Houston Oilers.

Paul Bain, #97, was a walk-on transfer from Tusculum College in 2015. He was red-shirted in ‘14 at Tusculum and did not see any playing time in his first season at UT. He saw action in 2 games in 2016 and 2 games in 2017. In the opener vs Ga. Tech, Bain blocked a last second FG attempt, to secure the Vols win and became a cult hero. His last season in Knoxville, Bain became a useful member of the defensive line rotation, appearing in all 12 games. Bain recorded 11 tackles and a fumble recovery vs West Virginia. For his career, Bain had 13 tackles and earned his scholarship as a member of the Vols.

Tyrone was one of the hundreds of Vols who have passed through the program since its founding who labored in obscurity and for whom the wearing of the Orange was the pinnacle of their football careers. I'm so glad you chose one of them.

I had a very good friend who played for Tennessee in the early '60s He liked to joke that he was the very last single-wing center in UT history. He was on the team for all four years (three active) but never saw enough playing time to letter. Coach Dickey made sure he got one though. There was a category called a "Service Letter" and he got one of those. It wasn't much, but he was intensely proud to be a Vol Letterman. I can still hear his stories about the Vol legends he played alongside. RIP, Rodney, I miss you.

Kim Logan, #95, came to play for Bill Battle, and left playing for Coach Majors. In 1974, Logan played sparingly at DE and was moved to linebacker in ‘75. He made 16 total tackles, with 3 for a loss as a sophomore and continued to impress as a junior, with 39 total tackles and 3 for a loss. Logan was expecting a huge senior season in ‘77, but an ankle injury caused him to miss spring practice and limited him during the season. Logan did play in all 11 games and produced 45 tackles and a forced fumble. Logan finished his career with 100 total tackles.B915FE79-4092-4E93-ACFA-0B8547C539C2.png

Mike “Stop” Cofer, #93, played for the Vols from 1979-1982. He was a hometown kid from Rule HS, and made an immediate impact as a freshman, with 27 tackles and an fumble recovery. A solid sophomore year was cut short with an injury, but his junior and senior seasons were he flourished. Playing opposite of Reggie White, Cofer had 94 tackles and a blocked punt in ‘81 and had 84 tackles, 4 sacks, and 2 fumble recoveries in ‘82. He was named All-SEC as a senior and was drafted by the Detroit Lions. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 1988 and finished with 62.5 sacks.
