It sounds to me that our new head football coach has more respect for, and a better understanding of the place that UT has in the scheme of things, than some posters here...

After the second reporter mentioned the Miami Dolphins, our new ball coach said:

"I was only there for 2 years. Why are we talking more about Miami than the University of Tennessee?" (Maybe not ver batem...)

Seems to me a lot of UT fans are talking more about UGA than Tennessee right now... We have what seems like an awesome new coach with a lot of integrity (and less ties to UGA than some may think anyway...).

How about you guys start talking more about UT and our coach, and less about UGA?

:eek:k:

We had one of those "lifer" guys. We couldn't get rid of him.

We don't know. That's the time in which we "cheer". As many of the ESPN personalities said, LK's move tells us more ab CFball and the current landscape than it does UT or USC.To those of you who say he will for sure- We don't know the guy personally, so withhold your judgement. To those of you who say he WON'T for sure- Don't be naïve. We are all -whether we can handle it or not, in wait and see mode. As I posted in the Recruiting Forum, he passed his first pop quiz(Presser), and we assigned him a difficult take home project to be turned in on Feb 3rd for the CFB world to grade. We can issue his first progress report after NSD. Cmon DD, show us what you've got. - V M F

A level headed approach. I can live with that.

First off, he played football for Virginia.
Second, he seems like the type of guy who doesn't want to live in his father's shadow, but only time will tell.

What kind of time frame should we use... three? four years?

These were my thoughts and fears before the hire, especially with Richt having some pressure on him after UGA's performance. But the hire is over and done with now. Let's hope for the best

Same here. I'm just getting it all out now. Pretty much the same way I was when kiffin was hired. My guy was Butch Davis. But... oh well. I just hope we aren't all calling big Double D "boobs" in a couple of years.

Some of us were fooled into thinking that we could somehow replace Fulmer without any bumps in the road. Frankly, I still think we almost pulled it off.

If you had told me that Kiffin's hire would have played out this way when the deal was done, I would have given long odds that anyone, much less USC would be ready to give him an opportunity after a 7-6 season.

Oh well. It is what it is.

I will say this. If he can spend so many years with Saban, he has to have some kind of work ethic. It will be a while before people come beating down the door after him.

Excellent summary, Lex!

It does boil down to Kiffin getting a job without doing what everyone thought was required.

If UGA comes for Dooley, surely that will be after he's finished the task or at least got us back on track. As with Kiffin, we could be wrong on that again. CMR is not exactly raising the roof there and if Dooley beats him a couple of years running, well... just saying. I just hope they'd need two good years of data before doing anything.

I think the chances of this hire resulting in a bad on-the-field performance are better. This season was already going to be a tough one. The guy's got one helluva challenge ahead.

You live a sad and pathetic life don't you....even your avatar is a piss and moan about where you live

ohio does suck, but other than that i'm just a realistic vol fan that realizes the future is bleak. i could be like some on here and be happy because we are going to suck, but i'm smart enough to see a bad hire when i see one

What is this obsession with a coach leaving after establishing himself here? Are we that insecure as a program? Sure it happens. But Dooley didn't play football at UGA, so why the concern? It's like you don't want to marry a good looking girl because she might leave you after a few years for somebody else, so you settle for marrying your cousin.

we didn't marry the hot girl, they all turned us down
Hamilton got rejected, till he moved far enough down the list to get dooley

He will have to win for the mutts to even want him... I have my doubts looking at what he has accomplished so far he has taken a 3win program to a 4win program in his last year after 3 years you should see some results. He was the longest serving coach under satan yet never got the responsibilty of OC or DC..... then if he does win he will leave for ga after his on the job training. nice

The only way I see this guy leaving is by being fired. But I really don't see that happening. I think he is really sold on what Tennessee Football should be "the essence of college football" give me another coach that will say that.
