and fully enjoy the game?
I couldn't.

I tried this one year.
Was trying to be an adult.
So, I'm there with someone I love that loves the Tide as much as I love the VOLS.
Neither of us cheered.
We were afraid to upset the other one and trying to be respectful.
So, neither really enjoyed the game.

After that, I have not and will not go to a game with an opposing fan. I'm sure that makes me immature.
So be it.
Go VOLS! Buck Fama!
Dude, you and your loved one need to agree that whatever happens during the game you will leave it there. Then go ahead and offend each other all game long but leave it at the stadium.

It's difficult with any opposing fan but almost impossible with bama fans...

See, when you make a great play, it's ok to quietly clap but if you yell then you're just poor sport with no class...the best example is when UT beat Bama in '96...I live here and the hard core bama fans all agreed that Peyton was classless to be out there directing the band...and all our players running around and screaming after the game - just some sorry human beings...in their eyes, they only way a classy team reacts to beating bama is to walk silently off the field with their heads down so as to not rub any salt in the wounds of all those honest, classy bama fans...anything else is just disrespectful...

Or course many of the bama fans think there are references to the Crimson Tide in the Book Genesis...delusional is an understatement....

It soured a relationship for me last year at the Florida game. He offers me a seat with his family and friends on the Gator Bull level. I was quiet and reserved with nothing more than a fist bump or two, yet was blamed for the way things were going and then when they scored that 4th and 16 he exploded and became aggressively hostile with me to the point he lost his voice. I thought he was going to expire. I was not even offered a seat at the dinner table after the game. I have reached out since but he has not spoke to me since.

At least he didn't die.

I think.

Is your friend's name Chris Hansen? Cause it sounds like he set you up.

Nope, I wish it was that easy. Rationally I totally understand that I have zero ability to impact the outcome of a vols football game.

But physically my blood pressure jumps 20 points, I become hateful to everyone around, I yell at the players/coaches like they can here me, I chew my fingernails off, I pace the floors when at home, and change outfits several times like my attire is jinxing the game.

So, if your able to sit and calmly enjoy a vols football game without being overly emotional then I applaud you.

So, having said all that if I was in the room with an opposing fan and they start talking crap when I'm in full on game time mode it's going to get ugly.

Of course, why harass someone if they aren't there to hear it? And more importantly ANY bama fan deserves it. Next question - who the hell sold that ticket to a bama fan - that seat should have belonged to a Tennessee loyalist.

I am mostly fine in person. It's the internet that brings out my stupidity. The anonymity of it all..

But I do everything that you do. I yell, pace, throw my visor, hat, etc.
