..if it meant that Fulmer would 100 percent for sure be out at the end?

Or would you prefer to go 8-4, 7-5 with some who cares bowl game and have a big "maybe" for next year?

No. This was discussed last year. Even with a 3-9 year, I'm not confident that Fulmer is gone.

I couldn't take 3-9, 5-6 was bad enough.

Among the things we need is an AD who holds his subordinate to the expectations that are set. But since we have the opposite at play, I'm not really sure what it will take to get better leadership in our program... but I couldn't take 3-9 to get said leadership.

Doubtful he would lose his job with a 1-11 record this year.

But if you KNEW he would. Like, the AD came out and promised in public to do so, could you stomach it knowing that perhaps long term it could lead to the program rebuilding?

Just a hypothetical, no right or wrong answer I guess.

Me personally, I'd have to say no. Too weird to root against your team and besides, losing could make the next guy's job impossible. I guess I just got to thinking about this though because of how many people who dont like PF point out how he'll always be able to hang on as long as he wins a game here or there. That to remove him would require total, catastrophic failure, not mere mediocrity.

No, because if we went 3-9, it's only going to take that much longer to rebuild, because of the recruiting we would also be losing. And you can't blame the loss to UCLA on Fulmer, Dave Clawson called a terrible game.

What difference is there if we go 3-9 or 8-4?

It's not like we are building toward anything, the only 8 wins gets is a raise for CPF.

I will not root for UT to lose but is there a big difference in being bad as opposed to mediocre?

I can't root against my own team. We are just a mediocre program now and it is just something we have to face the reality of. 1998 seems like such a long time ago.......

Yes you can. He has the final say so on what happens on EVERY aspect of the team.
You think for one minute he did not know EVERY play that was going to be run and when.

Doubt it.

I would never root for UT to lose. Even going during the last year of Jerry Green when the team totally collapsed and I knew a change was needed, I didn't root for them to lose. Same with Buzz Peterson.

Having said that, IF we did end up 3-9, I would definitely be calling for Fulmer to step down. I would say his firing but that's not happening anytime soon. We'd have to go 3-9 or worse for like 3-5 years straight.

Really though. Fulmer gets a raise, we go to a crappy bowl and we are having this discussion next year when UCLA beats us at home.

w/e. i just don't see how some people can bring themselves to root against a team that they love, regardless of the situation.
