First off let me say that im a believer in Dooley. I think he is the guy for the job and love the character he builds in kids. BUT with all the talent we have on offense and finally some great players on D. If we dont finish top 3 in the East does the universtiy fire him. After the kentucky game last year I was pretty pissed and was calling for his head ha. I then realized after that game there was nowhere to go but up. I love all the offseason moves and the recruiting of WR's. What do you guys think?:loco:

With this years schedule and possible departures one can legitimately ask: "if not now...when"?

I think the East is a toss up right now. Not buying UGA or SC hype. Everybody in the east has some serious questions to answer.

I'll say this- I will not accept a 7-8 win season that ppl think we should be excited about. Yes that would be improvement, BUT with the all the horses we have on both sides of the ball we should have a shot in everygame to win. If we only win 7-8 games that means we probably lost to UF, UGA, Bama, USC, and another team. With saying that, it means we lost again to all our rivals AGAIN! And that to me is unacceptable in year three for Dooley!!! IMO all reports from camp, coaches, and players that this season will be very special and us Vol fans will be very proud of our team. Go Vols! (cool story bro).

With our schedule I think we have a legit shot at 10-2. I think we get Florida this year at home (finally!) and I think we can take South Carolina. We should handle Mizzou who will be beat down by SEC competition by the time we get them. That leaves losses to UGA and Bammer. Anything less than 9-3 means we lose all the games we should which means no real progress to moving into elite SEC status and no signature wins for Bray = disappointing season but probably still enough to keep Dooley and keep up excuses.

IMO, 8 wins isn't acceptable before or after a bowl game, but im not the AD. 9 wins with the bowl victory will get him another year though.

I think you have to look deeper into the KY game...Coaches already had the feelings of moving on...players coming off the toughest schedule for a team with little to no depth...beat up and ready for the season to be finished....and they also knew coaches was going to change...Bray sum it up...KY was his and not CDD...Defense came to play...Offense was just not there...I am all for the CDD and think he should get an extension...3-4 years because he has turned UT into something that I dont worry too much about every weekend players staying inline...that come from SENIORS that are leaders...2012 going to be fun...2013 is for NC so hang on.....:dance2:

Its real simple for me to gauge this season. Dooley needs beat some elite (rivals) teams and take care of the games there supposed to win! If he does that he will be back on the sidelines 2013. I wont accept mediocre results and "golly jee they are showing improvement" season. We need to win now! This conference is only getting stronger and the longer we stay down the harder it will be to get back to what Tenn expectations should be at. Go Vols!!!

I agree with all you guys. I dont post alot on here mainly read but for people to be excited about a 7 win season is the craziest thing Ive seen. Growing up if we didn't win at least 9 games WE failed as a team. Im also not buying the hype of the other East teams. Sure FL and GA will be good but GA always seems to underachieve and FL I dont think will be able to keep up with our Offense. I hope Dooley wins 9 because I like the guy. anything under 9 wins to me im not happy though ha!! BUT HEY!! who am I

Who are you? Your a fan of the Vols who has an opinion to voice! Don't accept mediocre results. If we all did then the perception would be that Tenn football fans are okay with mediocre results. We should always have high expectations for our program. This is TENNESSEE! A track record of 100 years of great tradition, history, and success! Keep voicing your opinion. Go Vols!!!

Losing to Muschamp or Kentucky ANYTIME is unacceptable....If Dooley can't win 9 games and that is the bare minimum then he needs to go...No question about it...7 or 8 wins imo is a failure of a season.

I feel the same way. I think Dooley is a good guy and if he starts to win alot of games this year ill think even more highly of him. Would love to see him stick around and win multiple SEC Championships and NC's.

UGA and USCjr have top 10 defenses and we play them on the road. On USCjr, Lattimore is back to 100% and their front 7 on D is nasty. Aaron Murray is a solid QB and they have good backs despite Crowell's departure. Many on VN seem to think we've improved in all phases of the game while forgetting our opponents practice too and have improved on their areas of need as well. Just don't see us winning those 2 games.

I think it's a matter of how much more we've improved than other teams. A lot of ppl forget that it is not just UT trying to improve from year to year.

My opinion:

FL - I think is definately down this year from last.

GA - About the same as last year overall. Gained in some places, lost in others.

UA - Same as last year or better

SC - Same as last year or better

Vandy - For the most part, same as last year. Some improvement.

KY - Same as last year or worse

Miss St - I think will be better than last year and they weren't bad last year. Game in Starkville worries me.

MO - Who knows. Probably as good or better than last year, but they are in the SEC now. Can they hold up to the schedule. My guess....they give GA a game early in the season, by the time they come to Knoxville they will be worn down and hurting.

The question is, where do we stand in the list on improvement? My gut says we're the most improved of any of them, but how much more?

I say 9-3 (possible 10-2). No worse than #2 in the East.

JMHO

Nobody has forgotten that other teams also practice. Everybody is hyping up our team experience, which should lead to more wins. Georgias O-line is not outstanding and their RB's don't have alot of experience. As for SC, Lattimore is in the same boat as Hunter when it comes to injury, which i think both players are almost equally important to their teams (ill give the edge to Lattimore). With both teams missing those star players (UT missing much more overall) in the game last year, i think we have a great shot of beating them with what we have coming back. SC's defense looked solid last year, but we were missing top players on both sides of the ball and still kept it relatively close. The defense couldn't stay off the field.

I am as big a VOL fan as anyone is going to find. However if you think this is a 9-10 win season or bust, then there are going to be alot of disappointed fans around here. I know we are on the upward swing, but I just do not think we are to that point yet. We are going to be exciting and fun to watch and I can't wait to see this team on the field. Just do not forget what usually wins in the SEC and that is a great defense and ball/time contol runnning games with a few well timed passing games.

I don't think there is an abundance of senior leadership on this team. That scares me. I think there are a lot of junior "look at me" types with an eye to the NFL rather than the SEC. I hope I'm wrong. I like Dooley and LOVE the Vols.

It isn't far fetched to assume that UT could easily be the most improved team in the SEC this year, maybe even the nation.

Now, that does say a lot about how bad we were but it also says a lot about how good we could be. As mentioned before, every team has question marks.
