I would really like to know the truth about just how much money we were willing to put out there in trying to attract a high profile coach. I heard bits and pieces, rumors and mostly hearsay, but was never convinced about the validity. Was our top budget $3million, $5 million or what? I hope Hammy put it all out there and didn't try to attract the top picks on the cheap. Or was he pretty much hamstrung on the money side and had to do a search on the cheap?
It's true... Not sure, either, about the money being offered but I didn't hear one single credible name being thrown around either after Fulmer or after Kiffin.
In fact, at the time, I thought Kiffin, due to his staff, was a slam-dunk hire for Hamilton given the situation. That's obviously without knowing what we know now.
Even then, we had our pick post Fulmer. Hambone's shenanigans killed us.

fyp.
It was stupid to hire what could rightly be considered an interim coach and a Coordinator. My money was on Kiff staying 2 years - and he beat my low expectations in grand style. Given Fulmer's recruits are contributing from 2009, and Dooley's from 2010, this mythical "he will save recruiting!" is shown for the farce it is.
And for me the "Daddy Clause" says it all. With Pearl feeling the heat now, Hambone has zero credibility or accomplishments in his current role. He has to be let go lest the ship continue listing.

You must have been saying that on one of the Boards that banned you because you never said it over here.
I've always maintained Kiff would be here no longer than three years. Personally, I didn't think it would be more than two as I've said, but I tried to be more positive when he was our coach.
Y'all pick the weirdest stuff to go off on me about. Oh, right, because you're taking another behind the woodshed in the other thread. Thought you would come in here and look brave.....
There is nothing to be said for stability if the particular stability you are praising has two losing seasons in four years and keeps falling behind the top of the SEC then I'm again'it.

Tearing it up or not we wouldn't be down 20 scholarship players. We might still be mediocre, but not SEC cellar dwellers. IMO
What they need to do is hire Mike Shula , i do have a feeling he would like a shot at Bama , after all Nick did get a good football team when he got the bama job . Like the one he got when he went to LSU . Nick will be looking for another place to land with in two years . The Vols will beat LSU today 48 to 12 , LSU will get 4 field goals
Still holding on to that National Laughingstock huh? Let me kick you some knowledge.
The best recruiters recruit to their depth chart. Phil is considered by those in the profession as the best recruiting head coach of all time. Lil Layne recruits to get the best ranking by a bunch of internet nobodies. See, the smaller guys (WR, RB and even DEs) get the highest stars. Recruit more of them and get the most stars and get the higher rankings. Lil Layne left this program with a bunch of high stared small guys (many are not here anymore). That is not a successful formula. Ask Ole Miss how that worked for Ogre.
Tenn has had more kids drafted of any SEC school over the last 20 years. That is no accident. Lil Layne will be out of coaching before he is 40.
That's a lie.
Eric Gordon, Marsalis Teague and Janzen Jackson wouldn't be here.
There is a handful still playing:
Boyd - second string at Clemson
Creer - LA Tech
Paige - LA Tech
Langly - TX Tech
Coleman - UTC
The rest have washed out. Do you think that is enough to fill our depth shortcomings?
