I posted this question on another board, but wanted to get folks thoughts on here as well.

We have:

Patterson, Hunter, Neal, and Rogers who have all ran sub 4.4 times in the 40 yard dash.

Watson, Dallas, and Howard are big time burners as well.

Lane and Young also seem to have that "breakaway" speed as well.....Thoughts?

When has D Rogers and Lane ran a sub 4.4? This is news to me if true..

Rogers and Lane don't have great speed. Dallas is on defense now. As for Patterson, Hunter, Neal, Watson, Young, and Pig...they are fast. I would say it's possible to be the fastest in the SEC

Then you factor in bray and were done lol I would think murrays speed vs brays would be enough to swing it to Georgia.

Sub 4.4- Patterson, Hunter, Neal, Young, Z. Rogers and Watson
Sub 4.5- D. Rogers
Sub 4.6- Lane

These are what I remember. I don't know how many were hand held though.

I would bet that they are not even close to Sub 4.4

They might be in the 4.5 range at best

If a reciever as big and physical and Rogers is running a 4.5 I would say that's pretty darn good. He doesn't need to be a burner with his physicality.

I agree...I would think Rogers and Lane run around 4.6 40's. They arent close to sub 4.4's. People throw these super low 40 times around and have no idea how fast a 4.3 40 actually is..

If the run game gets going this year, avereraging 25-30 points a game could happen.... you cant teach speed, gotta have it in the SEC. Our offense has the Potential to be Top 10 in the country easily, and if you do some research, that is where our O coordinator kept his teams while at Purdue... It very well may happen. Also, pray that our Defense comes together this year, we are built to stop the run... If we can get a pass rush along with getting the run game going, Atlanta shouldnt be out of the realm of possibilty...

Rogers was listed as running a 4.34 out of high school according to scout. I'm sure that was hand timed, but he is a burner none the less. Here is his recruiting profile from 2010: Scout.com: Da' Rick Rogers Profile

Neal was timed last spring at 4.29 in the 40. I didn't mean Lane.

I like the confidence...but after looking at uga's schedule...not likely. Uga probably wont lose more than 1 game. We would have to beat them in Athens and I dont see that happening.

We all know you cant go by hand timed 40's. I would bet the farm that D Rogers does not run a 4.3 40 if timed properly.

If I recall correctly, I think it's like 4.3 seconds, or something like that. :hi:

While I agree that this may be true, Losing their #1 star RB will be an adjustment for them. Also, losing to Georgia doeant technicaly take us out of the East if we take care of business elsewhere. Still wondering how they got Lucky 2 yrs in a row doging the studs in the West. Cant wait to see how the season plays out. Go Vols

I would bet you are right, but that is often all we have to go on in college and when comparing Tennessee to the other SEC teams we just look faster on paper. I read somewhere that Justin Hunter electronically timed a 4.42 in the 40. That means on a good day he could probably run a sub 4.4 electronically. 4.42 electronically timed is smokin' fast.

Croom is being overlooked. Dude is going to surprise this year. His size/speed combo just isn't fair. If he has decent hands he will see the field.

He looks like a match-up nightmare for anyone trying to cover him. He is said to have impressed in workouts so far. No way you can jam him at the line of scrimmage or cover him on a slant. A tight end with WR speed.

We do have some serious speed but it is really more impressive when you look at the size of those WR's - there are a lot of short burners out there - there aren't a lot of 6-3+ guys with the kind of speed that Drogers, Junter and CP possess

I am super pumped for this season as well. Who do you see uga losing to? If we lose to them and bama...that means uga is going to have to lose 3 sec games in order for us to win the east. Look at their pansy arse schedule...maybe sc and then who? They will destroy Auburn again and I dont see UF beating them...maybe Mizz? I think our realistic chance of making the dome is to beat uga in Athens...which will be a tall order.
