Could Sal be Dooley's Clawson....

That is one thing I have learned with the Pro-Dooley crowd. It's ALWAYS something. :good!:

The same as the other group ,right? You guys act like your fortune tellers and know the future. You all shouldn't be playing around with crystal globes. There not real...Js:). Seriously though IT TAKES TIME LIKE IT OR NOT to rebuild. Tennessee didn't all of a sudden become a mediocre football program. It happened over TIME. The longer ANY problem is allowed to continue the longer it takes to correct. This staff needs more time due to the length of time the program was allowed to be mediocre. You guys probably think thats crazy logic i'm sure. Anyways jmo and God Bless!

I agree 100% it takes time to rebuild. I also feel it takes alot longer with a loser coach if it happens at all. Why do we have to accept losing while a career losing coach tries to figure out HOW to coach? Does it not make more sense to just go hire a winner? Maybe Dooley figures it out in 2-3 years. Maybe he never does. Is losing while we wait around what is best for UT? IMO, it is not. These players deserve a fighting chance at winning. They are going into every game with a huge disadvantage. Their head coach.

This site always amazes me. Everyday. The past two years I've read on here how Wilcox needs to go. He's awful. Heard it from pretty much every fan. Same went for Chavis. After the smoke clears it's like nobody ever wanted either of them gone to begin with. Just like if/when Dooley is let go and goes on to be a good coach else where, most of you on here will say "man we should've just given him one more year to get this thing right. This site is honestly a joke sometimes.

Chavis had proven himself as a coach. Wilcox had proven himself as a coach. I liked both coaches and they performed well. Please do not lump Dooley into that group.

Just trying to make a possible future comparison. My point is no one is satisfied with what they've got until it's gone. No one EVER wants to point out any positives on this site unless it's a month before kick-off and we are talking about how "This year is the year"

Not quite true but there is alot of pessamism here in the football forum...try the recruiting forum.

This is what I was concerned about going into the season, our defense. I felt like we would be able to hold our own offensively in the SEC, but I was worried about getting the new DC and changing schemes. It seems like the worst year for us to be changing schemes. To have our best offense in years and to be learning a new scheme defensively is tough to do.

That being said, I like Coach Sal, I just think he needs time to implement the system and to get more of the right "types" of guys in to run the scheme. It's just a shame that we are having to learn this new scheme while we have one of our most potent offenses, as of late.

Maybe players at Maryland have a higher IQ than they do at UT?

It is impressive it is a new system and they are giving up just over 200 yards a game on defense. Even WV only got 360 on them. WV has averaged over 600 against everyone else.

You got to have players we dont have enough high level players to compete in the sec.

If that is true, and I am not saying it is, then Dooleys bags are already packed. He was never getting past this season. If Hart hired Sal without Dooley having a say in it, there is little doubt at least to me he will hire Kirby Smart as next HC.
or he bought himself another year just because of the hire.

Wilcox won in the WAC and that to you means he's proven himself? So let's put this all out there. Dooley led La Tech to its first bowl victory since the 70s and Wilcox is a more proven coach?

hope you are kidding about the IQ, but a lot said the same thing about the clawson O ie our players were just too dumb to run it.

Comparing Maryland or La Tech or Boise State or any of these other schools and their schedules save Alabama to what Tennessee faces every Saturday is apples and oranges. There are only a hand full of schools that could have played the Vols schedule this year and had a better record; and LSU is no longer one of them. IMO Wilcox bailed because he realized he was not ready for the big boy football they play in the SEC. Note that the only BCS school LSU has lite up this year is Washington and guess who their DC is?

Dooley and Sal and others are going through some "on the job training." IMO they are learning a little bit, notice that they didn't bail on the run late against the Dawgs ala Florida. Also, the main reason for most of the big plays against Sals D is the Vols are Cheating like crazy cause they can't match up mano e mano. You cheat your safies up and then take a little bit of a bad angle to the ball and bam its a 70 yarder for a TD. The other side of that is the D are turing the ball over way more and making a few more big plays. They got the Vols back in the Georgia game with TO's and got 3- 3 and outs on Ga's last 3 possessions to give the Vols a chance.

I know that irks many of you because for the money modern day coaches get you want a finished product ready to step in and win big in the SEC. Well news flash the guys who can do that you can count on one hand and most already have their dream job and have last names like Stoops, Saban and Myers. There are a few others that are damaged goods or they wouldn't be available, Bobby P ring a bell?

Before some of you start, I ain't a Doolaide Drinker but dang let's keep a little perspective here and let the season play out. So far the Vols have lost on the road to a Georgia team that has top 10 talent and an undefeated Florida team that IMO will win the East.

I think this team will finish strong and give us all some pleasant surprises. If the fold up like a wet rag then hey I'll be first in line with my pitch fork and torch as we storm the castle. But can we at least wait until Thanksgiving before we fire another dang coaching staff?

I don't think so. Dooley could not coach at LaTech, He could not coach with Wilcox, he now can not coach with Sal. Dooley is the common thing in all these issues.

Yep - kind of like Lame Kiffin - couldn't coach at Oakland, couldn't coach at Tennessee, couldn't coach at Southern C ------ oh snap.

Maybe you prejudged him.

What say we let the rest of the year play out along with recruiting before you start shoveling dirt on CDD's casket.

With a break or two we could suddenly get very "hot". Also does it not occur to anyone out there that the talent at La Tech was recruited on CDD's watch? Somebody somewhere was a great evaluator of talent and recruiter.

Kiffin "coached" fine here at UT for his 1 year. He did much better than Dooley has in 2.5. While I dislike Kiffin, he showed he could coach.

I would not shovel dirt on a mans casket. I would just make sure he was unemployed asap.

Much like you when you respond....

Because I said so.

:eek:lol:

Give me a break. I've typed out freakin novels explaining myself. I have done the exact opposite of saying that. You are just mad because I exposed you for not knowing as much about the program as you wanted people to think. Your statements have been factually inaccurate that I question why you're even here.

:eek:lol: back at ya :)
