Could Sal be Dooley's Clawson....

I could care less if we were out of the game or not. When a player keeps doing his own thing instead of doing the smart thing, I sit him down. Worley can play QB. He did it last year and won the game he was "supposed to win" vs MTSU. he hit 9 different recievers for almost 300 yards in that game. Any idea how many games Bray played last year and hit 9 different guys? (1) game. Worley spreads it around, and I think that is a big deal in team chemistry.

I guess you haven't watched the same games that i have this year.Even the announcer's have commented on the number of different recivers that Bray has thrown to in the game.:peace2:

Funny, when CPF was Majors OC the struggles were Majors fault. When he was HC the struggles were Cut's, Sanders and Claw's fault. And yes Virgina, there were people upset with Cut's offense. To get back to the OP, I don't think Sal was Dooley's hire. How much worse could the defense be had DD just took a chance on Thompson?

If Dooley isn't retained, I can see Kirby Smart coming aboard, and keeping the majority of the staff, minus Chaney and maybe Hinshaw.

and why would you want an unproven position coach as your HC. a guy with no experence as a HC,one that doesn't even have complete controll over his defense. that would just put Ten. even further behind the 8-ball IMO.

Lets completely ignore the fact that Clawson has done well everywhere else he's been. Fumler screwed himself. I don't really feel its Sal's fault his players can't grasp pop warner concepts like outside containment. Its not his fault we have no speed in the secondary and this was addressed in the last recruiting class. He should chill out on the blitzes till we sure up the back end, thats my only gripe with him. Sal was a good hire, give these guys a chance.

If I am Hart and I can not attract an "ELITE" proven HC to Tennessee...I am calling up Charlie Strong. A proven SEC defensive guru, recruiter, and worked for "ELITE" HC's Meyer, Spurrier, and Holtz when he was at Notre Dame (not the South Carolina Holtz).

No. Sal from Bama and has recruiting connections. Clawson was and still is an F'N joke. Hate that fool

If our defense doesn't improve, and play better assignment football, do you think that the risk that was taken to hire Sal may very well end up costing Dooley his job, kind of like what happened with Fulmer and Clawson??

No! Hart hired Sal and it was not Dooley's decision. So, if Sal doesn't work out, it would be Hart's fault.

If that is true, and I am not saying it is, then Dooleys bags are already packed. He was never getting past this season. If Hart hired Sal without Dooley having a say in it, there is little doubt at least to me he will hire Kirby Smart as next HC.

To be honest, Sal hadn't coordinated a game since '99, and that was for Alabama A&M, and his only other stint as a DC was at Illinois St. in 1994. To me, that's concerning, but the hype surrounding the hire overshadowed those points. We were all hoping his fire would translate on the field, but it's not all about fire as a DC.

You can be the greatest coach on Earth, but if the players don't EXECUTE the plays, you're gonna look silly.

I hope it isnt KS roaming the sideline.Might as well keep Dooley.Id much rather see Dana Holgorsen roaming the sideline.Tn doesnt need another coach who gets his 1st HC job at Tn expense.

I hope Dooley is roaming the sidelines for a long time to come.

However, not hiring "another coach who gets his 1st HC job at Tn expense" would mean that there would not have been a Neyland, Dickey, or Fulmer in UT's history.

The big plays have been embarrassing but on the hole, this defense is so much more aggressive than Wilcox's. That bend but don't break stuff, giving up 16 and 18 play drives was pitiful. With UT's offense, Sal's approach is a significantly better fit.

I agree 100%. it aint the coacehs fault these guys are always out of position. the kids need to learn where to be.

thats the coaches job , to make the players execute or put in players who can. in order for the kids to learn they must be taught.

8.8 yards per play vs GA, PER PLAY. thats the most disgusting thing ive seen in 30 years of watching UT football

"I agree, Preperation H does feel good... On the hole"

It isn't "pro-Dooley" for most of us. It is "Pro-UT" due to intelligence. You see some of us see DD's success being the shortest route for UT's success.

Some people though stupidly pull for Dooley to fail to satisfy some itch for change they have as if change itself will bring success.

truth, should be stickied

So how did they make a successful transition so fast if the 3-4 is "complicated and takes time?"

One player is quoted as saying the new system is "easy."

Is it the system, or the instructor?

Maybe players at Maryland have a higher IQ than they do at UT?

It is impressive it is a new system and they are giving up just over 200 yards a game on defense. Even WV only got 360 on them. WV has averaged over 600 against everyone else.
