Could Butch leave?

Let me say to the morons that want Butch to leave, be damn careful what you wish for. Butch is the right man at the right time. I am sure the time will come when we part ways but not in the immediate future. You better hope he doesn't bolt, I can't think of any coach other than Saban who can out recruit Butch. Let's move on the conversation makes me sick.

Just read these quotes on Tennessean.

Butch Jones: SEC coaching takes years off life

Now, I think it would be crazy to leave when you have the talent returning that Butch has, however, this does NOT sound like a coach that is loving the pressures of the SEC.

Any other thoughts? Insights? Could he pull an Urban?

Easy question, of course he could leave. If you become enamored with the staff you will almost certainly be disappointed sometime in the future. All of these coaches could be gone immediately if they receive the right phone call. They talk teamwork, togetherness and family but the reality is those things are only for the players and fans not the coaches. Be fans of the program, players and consider coaches part time employees. Frankly, the only reason Butch is still here is is lack of creativity on the offensive side of the ball. An offensive guru is in high demand at this moment from 10 different schools.

The problem is that the majority of the fan base is scared of change, and as a result, does not demand excellence.

Yep every year we don't win the east we should fire our coach. We demand excellence around these parts.

Such drivel. We demand excellence. Lol

I have never thought much of Les Miles..ever. Butch won't win less than 8 anymore either. Miles was gift wrapped a loaded team and has steadily slipped. Butch started with a load of horse manure, and is steadily climbing. More impressed with Butch at this point

Butch's resume' isn't even on the same planet as Miles'. Miles has won a natty, played in another, has never won fewer than 8 games, all being done in the toughest division in college football............Butch has a win against Georgia and 2 terrible South Carolina teams and the worst Mizzou team in Pinkel's tenure.

Love Butch, but if there's a chance we could swap him for Les Miles I'm all in.

That's the dumbest statement I've heard on here in a long time! Have you seen LSU offense over the past 5 years? If He couldn't win with Louisiana talent, how in the world do you think he could win at Tennessee?!!! Les Miles is a fraud! Butch Jones is the real deal. You can talk about the short comings of Butch, his offensive hires, his in game coaching, second half adjustments etc, but the truth is that he has us on the brink of a 9 win season, and truly no one on here knows how difficult that has been with the shape the program was in when he arrived!

1. He signed up for it and is getting paid a very handsome amount of money to do the job....he's made approximately 9.5mm the last 3 years. Pretty damn good trade off IMO.

2. Why in the world would he leave? He's doing a very good job rebuilding this roster and program. He's taken us from a laughingstock getting blown out by any decent team in 2013 to a team that literally could be getting Final 4 consideration in 2015 were it not for a couple of mismanaged 4th quarters vs Florida and OU, a poor QB performance and a freshman fumble in the redzone vs Arky, and a late game-winning drive by the #2 team in the country on the road.

3. Tennessee is a top 10 job in the country and the difference between it being a top 5 job is scant. Ton of money, great facilities, phenomenal fanbase/support, a top SEC program, expanding/fertile recruiting base....he virtually has nowhere to go but down were he to leave of his own accord.

We get it, you think Miles is a better coach than Butch. Anything else you'd like to add to that? That Butch doesn't eat grass like Miles does???

Someone starts this BS every time anything positive starts to happen here. It's as if they like starting over and the misery that follows. He's not going anywhere, hasn't done anything to be high on any big program's radar.

Did you accidentally forget to mention the USC team that finished ranked in the top 5 or intentionally ?

It's not just what I think. It's a fact, and the arguments I've seen posters make saying Butch > Miles are not based in reality and sound silly.

He also inherited a team built by Saban in a talent rich state. I don't think he would be able to recruit at the same level in Knoxville. Besides, you are looking at a 62 year old man vs a 47 year old man with a lot more drive and a lot more to prove. Don't want Knoxville to become a retirement village for coaches who have seen their better days with other programs.

That's in South Carolina.

How was that 2013 South Carolina team terrible? They won 11 games and finished the season ranked #4.

Absolutely nobody should want Jones going anywhere right now, he's doing a great job rebuilding the program. Everything's heading in the right direction. I want him to keep doing everything he's been doing with the exception of two things...his gameday management/philosophy and all the excuse-making. Both of those, especially the first one, need to change.

Yes, jobs that pay in excess of 4 million per year generally are, hmm lets see..........difficult? Would you take a year off your life for 4 million?

If buTch were to leave our recruits would go elsewhere, lots of our young players would transfer out and our program would be royally screwed.

I guess some on here like 4 or 5 win seasons.

Great recruiting simply IS what builds great teams and programs and buTch and his staff have proven to be great recruiters.

We've gotten more Wins every year and we're getting more Wins this year.

Next year we'll get even more Wins so just pray the great recruiting and coaching continues and the Wins keep adding up.

I have to LMAO @ people wanting the grass eating idiot from LSWho or thinking that Gruden will ever coach at Tennessee, LMAO!!!

Look how damn close we were already at being undefeated and ranked #1 in the country and THINK about if you really want to start all over again.

Some people really need psychiatric help.

#BrickbyBrick...VFL...GBO!!!

Im willing to bet you'd still find something negative to say even if Miles or Nick Saban for that matter, was our coach so what's the difference? You wouldn't like this and you wouldn't like that, blah blah blah. You'd never be satisfied with what any coach is doing. Do you have any proof that Miles would be successful here? No cause he isn't our coach. Butch is and he will be Tennessee's coach for the time being. I will continue to support him and hope that he wins a National Championship before he retires. Instead of worrying about the Butch Jones & Les Miles comparison, why don't you just enjoy this winning season that Butch put together you wanted so badly?

I don't expect Butch to leave on his own, he may be fired or asked to resign or retire. He is still on the rise, our team is still on the rise.

Why would we as a fan base want to run off or trade a coach that has our team on the rise , for a coach that has his current team on a down spiral.

I understand that Miles has a NC and 2 SEC titles, but he is on the decline. Is it possible to come out of it? Yes. If LSU won't trust him to do it, why would we? Right now we are better off than to go grab a coach that is in the recycle mode.

I still say Butch has more up side than all coaches available, and most that are not available.

Butch just needs to keep wining, his next loss my be costly to him having a long term coaching job with the Vols.

Go Vols!
