Could Bryson Eason be our next Henry To'oto'o??

You didn’t watch DkJr enough

I did.
And he was not as good as Henry T.
The other day i was talking about this exactly.
DK didn't run fit like To'oto'o. He struggled greatly with shedding blocks specifically Olineman. Kirkland was very aware and would be Johnny on the spot but struggled with open field tackling. Very cerebral and athletic player like Henry T. But To'oto'o is longer than him.

Think about this....
Daniel Bituli is a 3 year starter who has beem pretty consistent. He's going to play in NFL probably. Was he better than Freshman To'oto'o this season? They played right beside each other, and it was hard to distinguish the two by their play.

I think Bituli was clearly a better player this year as a SR as compared to To'ot'o'o was as a FR. I expect that To'oto'o will only get better the next couple of years with experience and S&C program and probably be the best LB we've had since Mayo before it's over.

I’m just saying Kirkland was really good as a freshman. I’m not sure the difference is huge

The kid has been a rock on the best defense in the state for 4yrs. Whitehaven has put quite a few defenders in the SEC during his time there, and he was always the field general. This suggests he has a very high football IQ. Eason is an absolute nightmare to run the ball against. He is big, fast, & plays with a bull like mean streak. I believe he will be the best player from this class becuase of his worth ethic, passion for the game, and physical talent. I wouldnt be surprised if he had a Henry T type impact that makes the Daniel B transition a smooth one.

If we could get hardy as well it’d be the best defensive haul I can remember

Just want him to be a solid contributor. To'o to'o is GOING to be a good one, but I would have thought you might choose one of our former consensus AA linebackers, not a freshman who struggled at times
Its becuase i have realistic expectations for a freshman. I wouldnt dare compare him to any of our AA LB's without seeing him play a down of D1 football. Henry T had a great season for a freshman. If Eason has that type of freshman season it would be a great start to his career.

I do not remember a freshman linebacker at UT ever being as good as To'o To'o
Tom Fisher, who was tragically killed in an automobile accident , was probably the best freshman LB ever at Tennessee. He was not a true freshman however, as until 1972 freshmen could not play on the varsity. But his first year was fantastic.

Keith Delong comes to mind. Of course Jack Reynolds, Steve Kiner, Jackie Walker, Jamie Rotella, Mike Lucci and Paul Naumoff all had to sit as freshman because freshman couldn't play until 1972. All were consensus AAs. That being said, I agree with you about To'o To'o's ability to handle the system. My main point was that at one time, we were considered Linebacker U. by everyone in the country
Along with agreeing with you both, please allow for a bit more mustard on the hot dog. Having attended my 1st UT game in 1953 (OK. I was a wee fellow, but I was there), I've gotta tell y'all Henry T could...that's COULD...wind up becoming the VOLS' best modern era LB; even maybe return the LBU moniker to Knoxville. It's much simpler to compare players within similar schemes (Wilson, Mayo, et al) who have to master far more coverage responsibilities than did those fellas who were more specialized as LOS attackers. DeLong, Reynolds, Kiner, Lucci, Naumoff, et al, were monster run stoppers...all of them being likewise later on Sundays. Walker & Rotella were in that group of newer-type of LBs who had to be more flexible; switching a lot more from run stopping to pass coverage. To date, Al Wilson remains my top choice for best all around LB who sported that power T hard hat. Henry T, however, could, maybe-just-maybe, give big Al's best-ever stature a run for His $$$ by the time he heads to the NFL. How nice would that be? We should soon be loving CJP's upcoming wondrous BIG ORANGE CRUSH. 'Gotta love what he's building! GBO!

Are you comparing a high school players strength and conditioning program from the 1950's to kids being developed today at De La Salle? How can we seriously compare athletes from that era to athletes today?

D is in good hands. Pruitt knows what type player he wants on D. Like how he gets guys like Crouch playing all LB positions. Probably same for Eason and other signees at LB/DE. Our depth on D is really good at most all positions, except maybe DE. OL in good shape. If we get two deep high level performance from our Offense skill positions, we're back in the mix for SEC East.

I agree. I've been saying that we are just one Elite WR away from being a great team again. Of course, I was then told that Jalyn Hyatt and Holliday were both Elite receivers.I could be wrong, but Hyatt is not an elite SEC receiver and Holliday wants to play full-time QB. Imo, we need a day 1 game changer and we do not have that. I'm speaking of the Pickens, Ridley & Jeudy's of the football world. don't get me wrong, I do believe Hyatt is a very solid WR, just not Elite, yet.

They both had great freshman years either way. The good thing is we can expect some good ones coming in more often now

It looks like it.

Joseph at 6'3 235
Eason at 6'2 255
These are the weights I expect them to be playing at.

Potentially better versions of AJ Johnson and Curt Maggit??

Crouch and Henry T.
Harrison should make a huge leap this year.
And Don't count out Peterson.

This off-season is huge!

'Beg to differ with ya. I could be wrong from where I'm sitting, but I feel if you'd look at some tapes of this youngster...meaning Jalin Hyatt...then you just might change your mind. Do your homework then get back with me. Fair?

I agree with To’o being the best freshman. Leaps and bounds better than DKjr as a freshman. There’s a glaring difference in the physical aspects. Getting off block, tackling, staying healthy, etc.

Pruitt trusted this kid since day one with his defense and I think that says a lot considering his track record as a coordinator.

247-shows Bryson eason's stats for 2016, 2017 and 2019, no 2018. Was he hurt? Did he miss an entire season? Or, is 247 just missing an entire year of his play?
He only played 7 out of the 15 games in 18. He averaged like 7 or so tackles per game. I think he still made 6A all state.
