Could Azzani be next?

He was let go at Florida because of his lackluster performance

He went to Wisconsin. He wasn't lighting it up there either

He's a good recruiter, not great

Much better options out there and if we can upgrade, like we did at DC, we should

From the overall lack of production from the WR unit, coupled with the reports of coach Jones having to spend more time with receivers personally, does anytime else think that Azzani is the next one to be on his way out? I feel like Butch has proven that he is serious about upgrading his staff this off-season, and obviously WR has been a weakness at this point. Too much talent at the WR position to have such little development and production.

Oh, BS. NSD is a little over a month away, the recruiting class is still light, and you guys are wanting wholesale changes on a great coaching staff. This is freaking idiotic.

We need a QB coach (Dobbs foot work is atrocious) and a WR coach.

Need to fix both of those to fix the passing game.

He lost Howard, North and Croom, all former starters who were scheduled to return. Pearson had issues - Preston Williams was coming off a serious injury. I personally do not care if the yardage and point production is primarily rushing yardage or passing. Dobbs is a tremendous dual threat qb and possibly in 2016 he puts it all together. I say lay off Azzanni and focus on spring practice will be very competitive. Jeff George may add another dimension to the WR corps. Vols have had 2 coaching changes and desire for more transition off an excellent season is simply over the top.

Exactly. What a waste of talent at that position.

I would have pulled the trigger on Azzani before I did on Jancek.

Hopefully, Shoop will improve the defense enough to cover our deficiencies in the passing game. But we still need someone to get with Dobbs on his footwork. It's all over the place, hence the random inaccuracy.

I'm not really sure the punt return numbers were better because of him either. Maybe had something to do with the fact you have a NFL caliber player back there whose blockers are now a year older and stronger.

But of course the passing game woes have nothing whatsoever to do with personnel issues. That's on the coach, right.

Last year the guy was a hot commodity and many here thought we would lose him to a HC job. This year he's dumber than a box of rocks.

CZA must have had a tough off season.

Rarely does an erratic and inconsistent passer have a negative effect on the passing game. Definitely coaching.

Maybe so. Surely CBJ waits till after NSD if he's making a change tho.

Isn't the Coaches Convention this week? If so, I wouldn't mind seeing AZZ get Janceked, as well. His unit was the most disappointing and underachieving this past season. Numbers don't lie, and I'm convinced it's partly responsible for why we don't have a stellar WR group this recruiting cycle.

Kyle Davis would have been a big get. But looking at the numbers this year, I can see why he'd pass on it and go elsewhere.

I think he is being kept solely due to his recruiting abilities.

What has Azzani done to prove that he belongs on an SEC coaching staff? Subpar recruiter, and a subpar WR coach. Besides his ability to teach our WR's to successfully run block, he's been pretty lackluster in developing our WR's over the course of 3 years.

Nobody is calling for anyone else's head. Honestly wasn't even calling for Azzani's head either in this thread, just speculating that if another staff change was to be made, I would think Azzani would be the next one to go

ZA was over either Punt or KO returns (can't remember which off the top of my head)

The only part azzani plays in that is return guys. Blocking assignments etc was all Elder, but I do think both worked well together in that department.
