Cotman explains decommitment.

I see this thread has exploded. With some of you CBJ can't win.

I don't like this part of recruiting but I am not going to bash a coach that is doing what every other major university coach does.

I have complete faith in Butch. He's kicking this guy to the curb in order to go get some 5* players that are falling out of Nick Satan's couch. You just wait until February 1st. You'll see. Next year I will find the most sincere pumpkin patch around! The Great Pumpkin will Have pick mine... you'll see..... oh wait

Not a fan of this. Honor your commitment to the young man. We need all the quality depth we can stand. Sounds like he was all in. Coach Jones should take a long hard look at his staff before he starts running off 4-star athletes committed to the university.

Is this a joke? I can't tell. This happens every year to every program. Its the ugly side of recruiting but it happens. If every 5 star guy decided to commit tomorrow you don't think we'd be retracting offers from 3 stars.

Bless your heart. Did you go to school with Johngrudensagent? Your comprehension skills seem similar. Read the post you quoted again.

ReaderVol, you might as well give up, if they don't understand what you're saying, there is no hope. I've been following this in dis-belief. Almost comical!

I'd like to hear butch's side of this story.

I don't think we're allowed to, yet anyway, however they have ways of leaking that stuff out indirectly.

But remember, Butch is too busy recruiting right now to talk to the fans, or to kick the tires on other jobs that might be open, or to lobby for a raise and extension. Or something like that...

The only way he's retracting offers from 3 stars is is he has a couple of 2 stars waiting in the wings.

Well lets go back and take a look

2013:
Riyahd Jones - serviceable
Johnathan Johnson - serviceable
Woody Quinn - lulz

2014:
Von Pearson - good player
Chris Weatherd - under utilized in his time here
Owen Williams - good player
Dimarya Mixon (Prep school I think) - serviceable

2015
Alvin Kamara - great player
Justin Martin - serviceable player, still has time
Dontavius Blair - lulz

2016:

Jonathan Kongbo - still learning
Alexis Johnson - ?
Jeff George - buried in depth
D.J. Henderson - ?

Butch has done ok. Seems he's had about a 50% success rate for these JUCO guys. Probably somewhere on par with the rest of the nation - lots of JUCOs wash out.
for the most part there are reasons they ended up at JUCO some get those issues straightened out others not so much.

Regarding the JUCO list that was posted earlier, did Riyahd Jones ever actually play any here? Seems like I recall him showing up hurt and not really doing anything.

So we're telling one of our five highest-rated guys in the class to go elsewhere to make room for some JUCOs? This just keeps getting better. . .

My question is how the heck a HS coach in Florida knows this. SDS is starting to remind me of the National Enquirer.

I don't believe he played a down. If I remember right, injured in practice.

Just seems like an odd thing to do. Pulling an offer from a pretty good player who is committed. With all the transfers out, surely there are a few spare scholarships to go around? Obviously we had room for Cotman at some point.
