UCLA football tickets for $54/pair

Costco is selling UCLA football ticket packages again.
If you're a member of the warehouse store, a pair of reserve seats (tunnels 12, 13, 14, 23, 24, or 27) will cost $54 -- a savings of 35% off of face value. Look for the display pictured here, or just give tell them you want Item # 226979 at the register.
There's no limit on how many pairs you can purchase, but there is one catch ... you're only purchasing a voucher. It must redeem it for actual tickets on the day of the game or at the UCLA Central Ticket Office on campus. A game could sell out, leaving you without seats. The Tennessee and USC games are not options, but you shouldn't have any problem getting tickets to these games if you go to the ticket office early on:
  • Sept. 20 - Arizona
  • Sept. 27 - Fresno State
  • Oct. 4 - Washington State
  • Oct. 18 - Stanford (Homecoming)
  • Nov. 8 - Oregon State
Each purchase also gets you a subscription to the Bruin Blue Newspaper and a coupon for discounts on UCLA merchandise.

Kind of reminds me of Vanderbilt and the "Bunny Bread" marketing days. Buy a loaf of bread and get a ticket. I can't understand why 35 million people live in California and they can't sell the tickets.

Notice that USC and UTK games are not included. Seems like UCLA is just not as aggressive/succesful at selling season tickets which is probably due to them not owning their own stadium and lack of premium level seating. The Bruins are just looking for a way to unload tickets to non-marquee games. UTK does not have to do this, but I can guarantee now that I will be offered free tickets for every game at Knoxville this year except UF and Bama, as will many of you.

I'm thinking K-Mart.
I'm thinking 7-11...buy a Big Bite hotdog and a big gulp Dr. Pepper and get two tickets to any Bama game :post-4-1090547912: Hey back in the early 80's Arbys gave away Florida game tickets....No joke! :shaking2:

They're corner endzone seats that we pretty much never sell anyway. There are ALWAYS 15-20K empty seats for our games. And I seriously doubt this Costco thing will sell any more than a couple hundred a game. I guess they're trying to drum up some interest from the "casual fan". This is the first year they've ever done it.

As for the 35 million people...that may be true...but about 34 million of them could care less about college football.

We have our share of fans, but we could easily do with a 65-75K seat stadium. We don't need a 92K seat stadium. Other than the bi-annual $C game, I can't even remember the last time we had a sell out.

Patti, I notice people on ebay are stating that the game is a sell out. I also notice that pairs of tickets are rountinely selling for less than $50. What exactly is the going rate on the sidewalk if you walk up to the stadium and look for a scalper?

So, the average UCLA man has the following in his shopping cart:

plunger
vaseline
gloves
2 tickets
bananas
hamster
cookie sheet
rope

the game is most definetly not a sell out. i've gotten 20 yard line seats for $40 in the past for Cal games at the rose bowl. with vols gear on they might try to rip you off though. wait em out and you can get em cheap.

Yep, there's a ton on StubHub for even less. I have no idea why people are saying it's a sell out. It's not even close. There are a ton of tickets left.

The reason there are so many tickets out there for sale...actually there's a few reasons....

One is the date. A lot of UCLA fans will not be going to the game because of the date change. Many are traditionally out of town over the long weekend, others, especially those with children, won't be going because it is a work/school night.

Another reason is a couple thousand of our season tickets were bought by U$C fans so they could get the ticket to the $C/UCLA game in Dec. They are trying to unload all the other games.

Another reason...greedy UCLA season ticket holders decided to buy some extra UT tickets on their ticket order, thinking there'd be a huge demand for them like there was for the Bama tickets a few years ago. Figured they could sell them for a steep profit.

Add all that to the fact the game is no where's near a sell out and it's going to make for some VERY CHEAP ticket prices. I have to seriously laugh at some of the really high prices posted. Anything over face value is WAY over priced! Crowd should be somewhere between 65K-75K.

Just the fact there are still so many tickets out there for so cheap right now pretty much tells you there will still be a ton available for even cheaper come game day.

But be careful, scalping on the Rose Bowl grounds is technically illegal. It's up to interpretation as to exactly what is considered the grounds....whether or not that includes the parking lots. I see sales going on all the time out in the parking lots....but I don't know if technically that is legal or not. Be very discreet if you decide to buy some. Make sure there are no cops around. And be aware they do have undercover stings from time to time out there. But normally they are more interested in going after the seller than the buyer. DO NOT try to buy them on the sidewalk adjacent to the stadium. You will almost certainly get busted there.

Worse case scenario, if you can't find any, you will still be able to buy some at the game from the box office.
