Correction on JH road record in night SEC games from Tony

thanks to Bostonvol for catching the error in yesterdays column and sour grapes to me for posting a comment without checking it's veracity.

Very few coaches have a winning record playing on the road at night. It’s a prime time game and usually against very good coopetition. Add in a drunk home crowd and it’s a tough game to win.

Since I never see a specific start time, I believe the data is too easily skewed. Night games in September can have as much daylight as an afternoon game in November.

I think it only counts against Heup if it is after the time change in the fall.

I don’t particularly even understand why this is thought of as an issue. Other than guys like Saban and Kirby, you’re not going to find many coaches with a good record in conference night games on the road. Here are the night game road records of coaches who were hired between 2020 and 2022, as you can tell, it’s not great.
