Well, this had to happen before Dooley resigns or is fired:

Gruden has an MOU to become head coach for University of Tennessee. This will give time for Dooley's firing or resignation process.

But after that..

Can Gruden legally accept the HC job and then finish MNF while having a hired Staff member do recruiting? This would allow ESPN time to find a replacement as well.

I have thought about this as well. I don't think Gruden can publicly accounce that he will be the next UT coach while staying on MNF. Therefore, we will have to wait until after MNF to get official confirmation. Urban Meyer's return to coaching was similar, but I don't remember how that played out with his TV appearances.

Just wiki-ed, this is how Meyer's played out:
On November 23, 2011, The Plain Dealer reported that Meyer would become the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes.[51] Meyer denied the report publicly.[52] Meyer then asked ESPN to be taken off assignment during the weekend of the Ohio State–Michigan game, adding more to the speculations that he might be named the next head coach of Ohio State.[53][54] On November 28, WBNS Columbus, confirmed that Meyer had accepted the job as Ohio State's head football coach, and was introduced as head coach later that night.[55] The school said Meyer would receive a six-year contract that pays $4 million annually, plus another $2.4 million total in "retention payments." I feel certain if we some how get Gruden he wouldn't take over this season.

I agree there is no way he would take over this season, but the question is can he publicly announce before the end of MNF?

There is zero chance of the MOU being in place before DD is let go.

Good question about MNF

If Grudens the coach, he better be recruiting, Screw MNF.

I can think of no reason he couldn't. NCAA rule wise it would be no different than a hoops coach doing the final 4 coverage after their team has been eliminated which happens all the time.

I don't see why he couldn't. Mike Leach had a show on Sirius radio with Jack Arute when he took the Wash St. job.

MNF is a lot bigger than a show on Sirius, but I would think that Jaws would be willing to join the crew again.

No official announcement will be made on a new hire until after Dooley's fate is made known. Why would you ever announce the hire of the replacement until you create an opening, you wouldn't. Kiffin wasn't announced til after the season concluded and Coach Fulmer coached his last game. Do I think Gruden is coming, I don't know. I do hope Hart is serious about a coaching search and willing to put the money on the table it takes to get a proven coach.

He should still be allowed to finish out the MNF season because he is calling pro games. If he were calling college games ESPN might feel different like Meyer.

I was once saw Samuel L Jackson being interviewed by Al Michaels during a Monday Night Football game wearing a Power T shirt and talking about what a huge Tennessee fan he is.

But then I also saw Samuel L Jackson get eaten by a gigantic genetically-mutated shark, so I'm not sure what to believe.

Fire Gruden! Hire Samuel L Jackson! If he's really alive! I don't know he might've been killed by a shark! I'm yelling now! People in the office are staring! Grrrr
